American Idol Denies Use of Auto-Tune Technology
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,

“We have never, nor would we ever, use Auto-Tuning during the American Idol competition.”
That statement from Idol producers was prompted by the unfolding Auto-Tune X Factor scandal, which is taking on gargantuan proportions in the British press.
Auto-Tune is a pitch-altering technology used to make singers sound perfectly in tune. Auto-Tune has been used by many famous performers during live concerts and recording sessions, and it has also been used by British reality singing competition The X Factor. Producers of the show admitted as much in recent statements, though they have denied using the technology during live events.

Auto-Tune Scandal Unfolds on The X Factor
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Gossip, Video,
The seventh season of Britain’s The X Factor premiered as recently as August 21, and already it’s the most controversial the series has ever known. The flagship program for its parent network ITV, X Factor has been a reality TV mainstay in the UK - much in the same way that American Idol is a mainstay for the US.
That isn’t the only thing X Factor has in common with the popular US reality series. Like Idol, X Factor is a singing competition where one winner is crowned at the end of the season. Like Idol, X Factor is known for its harshest critic, Simon Cowell. But in light of recent events, American reality fans are hoping that’s all that X Factor has in common with Idol.
Singers on the newest season of X Factor have very clearly had their voices altered with Auto-Tune, an audio processor which corrects pitch and helps singers sound perfectly in tune. Auto-Tune may also be used to the opposite effect, making singers sound very much out of tune when it is applied incorrectly. Cher made the sound of Auto-Tune famous when she used on her “Believe” single. Other well-known singers to apply the technology include Janet Jackson, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

DeGeneres, DioGuardi React to Simon Cowell’s Idol Departure
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Rumors,

Talk show maven and newest Idol addition Ellen DeGeneres is “very, very sad” that Simon Cowell is leaving the show, and who can blame her? With Cowell gone, it’s safe to assume that American Idol’s future is now on a downward spiral, and Ellen’s new job is likely to become a very brief blip on the map of her career.
“He announced he’s leaving on my first day - I’m trying not to take it personally,” Ellen cracked jokes, as usual, while talking to her audience. “He’s a huge part of that show, but he wanted a change.”
And so sounded the death knell of America’s most popular reality TV series.

Simon Cowell Leaving American Idol
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, News,

Was it something Ellen DeGeneres said?
Although American Idol 9 hasn’t officially started, we already know how the season is going to end: with a goodbye to Simon Cowell.
FOX execs - with help from Cowell himself - officially announced today that the judge we love and/or hate will be leaving the program after the next winner is crowned. Simon, as rumored, will focus his attention to an American version of The X Factor. (It was the British program that helped launched Susan Boyle’s career.)
Cowell will serve as both executive producer and judge on the series launching in Fall 2011. If other rumors prove true, we could also see his former coworker, Paula Abdul, sitting right there beside him.

Simon Cowell Blown Away by X-Factor Auditioner
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, Gossip,

Who’s got the tuneful chops to get the biggest compliment notoriously cruel Simon Cowell has ever uttered? It certainly didn’t happen on American Idol, where the judge is often put-out and aggravated during audition rounds. On a recent episode of the UK version of the show, The X-Factor, Cowell offered the most praise he’s ever given on TV.
“That was single-handedly the best first audition I have ever heard,” the judge told Danyl Johnson, 27. The singer stepped out on the stage to give a rollicking rendition of “With a Little Help from My Friends,” impressing panel and audience members alike.
It was so good, in fact, that Cowell was actually moved into giving a standing ovation. “He could be one of the best contestants we’ve ever had,” Cowell said of Johnson.
You can currently watch the video of Johnson’s audition on YouTube.
