American Idol 9: Dallas Auditions

American Idol 9 visited frequent host city Dallas, Texas in Wednesday’s installment. Soaring skyscrapers, wide-open skies and southern charm were offered aplenty. The show’s steadies - Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson - attempted to guess who the day’s guest judge would be.
Neil Patrick Harris, best known for his role on How I Met Your Mother, answered the question. His goal was to make “two, three dozen people cry.” I’m on board with that. Original American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson came from the show’s first Dallas auditions. Also present at this first year was Julie Kevelighan, who returned in Season 9 for a little redemption.
Clad in an ill-fitting sparkly blue dress, Julie launched into a warbly rendition of “Black Velvet” to further prove that she’s just no Idol. Neil Patrick Harris critiqued Julie’s sign before telling her he didn’t really care for the singing. “Everything was wrong,” Simon Cowell summed it up. Julie kept right on singing as the panel groaned. Security eventually swept her right on out the door. “That’s just annoying,” the guest judge remarked.

Fox Cancels Anchorwoman

As we mentioned earlier, the new series Anchorwoman revolved around a small TV station’s desperate attempt to garner ratings. KYTX of Tyler, TX knew that hiring an inexperienced buxom blonde would bring them attention—and figured they had nowhere to go but up.
While it’s too soon to say if Lauren Jones was worth the station’s gamble, the network has already determined the price was too high. After only one episode, Fox has pulled the plug. But those truly interested by the show’s content can still see the remaining four episodes via Fox’s website.

Anchors Away on Anchorwoman

Tired of reality shows that try to have some sort of class? Want your trashy TV to be up front and bold? Check out Anchorwoman, a new reality series from none other than FOX. Struggling KYTX in Tyler, Texas needs ratings. What better way to get them than to hire a blonde, babealicious bombshell? Enter Laruen Jones, model, WWE Diva-wannabe, and ditzy hottie – and let the reality TV begin.
Okay, so she doesn’t have any experience with the news. No big deal…right? From the fast paced party scene of LA, Lauren arrives in the small Texas town with a tank top, stilettos, and an apparent burning desire to become an Anchorwoman. Horror-stricken, her new co-workers look on with confusion and concern. Existing anchor for the station Annalisa Petralia expresses her own feelings clearly – dislike, immediate and absolute. Petralia’s opinion of Lauren isn’t good, saying that the sexy blonde undermines the station’s credibility and her own personal reputation. The station manager does his best to mediate, gently suggested to Jones that she go get her jacket (cleavage doesn’t read too well on the evening news).
