Friday Ratings: FOX Pales Against CBS Repeats

Although FOX had the perfect opportunity to exploit CBS’ repeat-filled evening, the network came in a disappointing fourth with the viewers. Terminator‘s even performance was unfortunately offset by Dollhouse‘s second week decline.

Back-to-back shows about strong, good-looking women wasn’t quite enough for FOX Friday. Terminator took a major hit in its new time slot while Eliza Dushku was bested by the Supernanny. In other news, Diane Sawyer’s Appalachian Mountains special gave ABC a rare win in the demos, though CBS was still tops with the viewers.

Friday Ratings: ABC Forces a Tie with CBS

Okay, so CBS was only airing reruns. And ABC only tied in the demos. (CBS was alone with the viewers.) But when was the last time you could remember any other network making a showing on Fridays?

You gotta hand it to Jennifer Love Hewitt. Personal troubles won’t keep that girl down. Ghost Whisperer‘s numbers helped give CBS a double-win on Friday night.

Friday Ratings: Friday Night Lights Scores Higher Than Lipstick Jungle

There was a little bit of good news and bad news for NBC this weekend. Although the network saw smaller numbers for Howie Do It‘s second outing, the return of Friday Night Lights did better than the previous time slot holder (Lipstick Jungle). Unfortunately CBS’ dominant lineup made any improvements seem laughable.

Friday Ratings: Flashpoint Starts with a Bang

This weekend’s premiere of Flashpoint made CBS’ Friday night lineup that much stronger. The series - with the help of Ghost Whisperer - returned to its largest audience yet. Meanwhile, the debut of Howie Do It did better than the group of ladies following it.

Shows Planning a Return in 2009

Kathy Griffin

While it’s probably be safe to assume that Fringe and 90210 would both be handed 2009 renewal notices - especially since they’ve already been given full season orders - this television season is still far too young.

Here is, though, what we do know already about next year’s programming calendar:

  • Big Brother (CBS) - Season 11
  • Entourage (HBO) - Season 6
  • Flashpoint (CBS) - Season 2
  • Here Come the Newlyweds (ABC) - Season 2
  • Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo) - Season 5
  • My Boys (TBS) - Season 3
  • Sons of Anarchy (FX) - Season 2
  • True Blood (HBO) - Season 2
