American Idol 8: Third Group Performs

As the first half of American Idol 8’s Top 12 looked on, a dozen new hopefuls took to the stage to sing out their hearts - and hopefully, to win ours.
During the pre-performance banter, host Ryan Seacrest talked about Simon Cowell’s penchant for picking on contestant song choices. Seacrest asked the judge why he doesn’t simply pick the songs himself. “Well, I will,” Cowell responded. “We’ll have a Simon Cowell week.”
I’m getting a vision of the greatest Idol week ever. But before that happens, we have to get through this last group of Top 36 contenders.

American Idol 8: Three Left Standing in Second Group

Twenty-five million votes were tallied up to create Thursday’s live show, but did all the results go as expected? American Idol watchers were treated to montages, recaps and four performances - and at the end of the night, half of the Top 12 was firmly in place.
Alexis Grace, Danny Gokey and Michael Sarver waited through the group performance (it was a song I’ve never heard before and didn’t at all like…the best I can say is that it was better than last week’s group) and tons of other filler before real results were featured.
Ryan Seacrest spent a few moments chatting with the current crop of competitors before getting down to business. When asked about his future, Nick Mitchell said, “I’m looking for employment, always.” Jesse Langseth finds selecting songs “awful” and “very hard.” Jeanine Vailes admitted that “less could have been more” with her performance.
But eventually, even the time for chitchatting was over.

American Idol 8: Who is Felicia Barton?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,

At the time the audition and Hollywood episodes of American Idol 8 were edited for airing, Felicia Barton was just one of many who didn’t make it through the grueling rounds of cuts. In her place was petite Joanna Pacitti, who was recently disqualified after her many ties inside the music industry became public information.
Now, Idol watchers have been presented with a Top 36 contestant they’ve barely seen and never heard on FOX. So, just who is this Felicia Barton anyway? Find a clip after the jump.

American Idol 8: Ringer Joanna Pacitti Ousted

Controversial American Idol contestant Joanna Pacitti has been released from her duties with the show. Meaning, she’s been not-so-quietly kicked off America’s biggest reality competition.
“It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition. American Idol contestant Felicia Barton has replaced Ms. Pacitti as part of the Top 36.” This stunning statement appeared in the LA Times, just on the heels of the Top 36 being announced to the world (though Vote for the Worst came up with a full list - that turned out to be completely accurate - more than a week ago).

American Idol 8: Top 36 Announced
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
Fifty-four sat in the holding room of a “mansion” - or set - in Los Angeles last night on American Idol. Only thirty-six would leave the judging area with smiles on their faces. A few would be made to sing one last time, but all would have to make the long walk through the gardens and down to the throne room where their fate would be decided.
Anoop Desai was the first to make the stroll. “Anoop is in the house,” Randy Jackson cried, after Kara DioGuardi told Desai he’d made it into the competition.
Things started to move fairly quickly after that.

American Idol 8: Louisville Auditions
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,

American Idol held their Louisville auditions at the famous Churchill Downs racetrack, known for the Kentucky Derby, great hats and mint juleps. The track officially opened in 1875, and it’s been a Louisville mainstay ever since.
Louisville, by the way, is pronounced by most Kentucky natives thusly: Loo-uh-vull. This city is not pronounced, as Ryan Seacrest seems to think, as Looey-ville. Nor it is called Loo-iss-ville. The s is silent and there’s no long e sound - unless you are a Yankee. Outsiders like to say the state is somehow divided over the pronunciation issue. This is not the case - we’re just good-natured enough to poke a bit of fun at those who are. Say it with me, now - Loo-uh-vull.
But I digress. The show opened not with a Louisville native but a Cincinnati girl named Tiffany Shedd. This bleach blonde wore too much make-up and sang abominably. Her very long exit scene was punctuated with rage. We can’t all be singers.
