TV Talk: Kevin Spacey’s HBO Series, Fantasia’s Promotional Tour

-Oscar winner Kevin Spacey could be making a home on television. The American Beauty star is in talks to play a cult leader in a The Crux, a new HBO series. Details on the project are scarce.

-A reported suicide attempt won’t keep Fantasia Barrino from a publicity tour. The former American Idol winner will being promoting her new album next week. First up, an appearance on GMA on August 24.

-Will Jet Blue steward Steven Slater slide his way onto a television show? Stone Entertainment has reportedly offered the flight attendant a chance to host a reality series about disgruntled employees and their dramatic exits.

-The Office will soon be opening a new headquarters overseas. Creator Ricky Gervais has announced that a Chinese version of the comedy is currently in development. The U.S. version will start Season 7 on September 23.

American Idol 9: Top 4 Results

Ryan Seacrest kicked off the Top 4 results show by announcing the season’s highest vote tally, which was counted Tuesday night: nearly 37 million. The evening’s line-up offered Season 5 contender Chris Daughtry, rocker Bon Jovi and Season 3 winner Fantasia…not to mention, the shattered dreams of one Idol hopeful.

Fantasia began the night with “Bittersweet.” The wardrobe was horrible, but the performance was pretty good. The VH1 diva still has a strong set of pipes. Fantasia’s new album - the first in three years - will be out this summer. She says the album will offer a lot of “soul” tunes, which should delight Fantasia fans.

Idol’s Fantasia Barrino Gets Reality Show

Life is not a fairy tale for Fantasia Barrino. It’s a reality show.

Five years after being crowned the winner of American Idol, the R&B performer is preparing to do it all again. The Season 3 contestant will soon have cameras following her every move for a new series on VH1.

Fantasia’s life since her run on Idol has experienced some highs and lows. In addition to creating a book and television movie about her life, the singer has racked up nine Grammy nominations and starred in the Broadway production of The Color Purple. The 24-year-old also came very close to losing her home, though a last-minute deal helped her save it.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cable channel apparently believes Barrino’s story is still worth telling. “Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we’re so happy to have her,” the executive vice president of original programming said.

The program, which will document her life as an artist and single mother, is slated to premiere in early 2010.
