Thanks to a basketball overrun earlier in the evening, CBS was able to place first last night with the viewers. However, ABC still put up a good fight and came away with the demos.
8pm

- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (12.8 million, 4.5/11 in 18-49) built itself a larger audience than last week.
- Big Brother (8 million, 2.7/7) slid by approximately 2.3 million.
- The Simpsons (7.1 million, 3.4/9) and King of the Hill (6 million, 2.7/7) both did nearly twice as well as their last outing.
- Dateline (6.7 million, 1.7/4) was up about 600,000.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.3 million, 0.5/1) and Aliens in America* (990,000, 0.3/1) also saw increases.

Although last night’s numbers were a bit confusing - CBS’ NCAA coverage caused show overlaps in parts of the country - it appears ABC managed to pull out another Sunday win. The network was first in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm

- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.9/11 in 18-49) nailed down 11.1 million.
- A 60 Minutes/Big Brother hour (2.4/7/) turned in 10.3 million.
- Dateline (6.1 million, 1.3/4) was down 1.9 million from last Sunday.
- The Simpsons* (4.8 million, 2.4/7) and Unhitched (3.1 million, 1.5/4) both took large hits this week.
- Both Everybody Hates Chris (990,000, 0.5/1) and Aliens in America (930,000, 0.4/1) were off slightly.

Sunday Ratings: Extreme Makeover Serves ABC Nicely

ABC won another Sunday night - and surprisingly Oprah wasn’t the network’s biggest contributor.

8pm
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (12 million, 4.1/11 in 18-49) was the night’s top show.
- Dateline (1.9/6) averaged 8 million over two hours.
- Both The Simpsons* (6.6 million, 3.0/9) and King of the Hill (6 million, 2.8/7) saw losses.
- Big Brother (6.3 million, 2.3/6) was down slightly.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.1 million, 0.5/1) and Aliens in America (900,000, 0.4/1) also took small blows.

MONDAY (3/17)
- Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): Tonight’s Season 6 premiere focuses only on the men. I think it’s safe to say Julianne Hough won’t be making it a three-peat with Adam Carolla.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8pm): New episode. “Sheldon and Leonard are asked to a physics conference to present their work together.” I’ve always wondered - if this show were to air on any other day, would it be half as successful?
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30): New episode. “Ted decides to live life like Barney on St. Patrick’s Day.” You don’t want to know what they use as their lucky charms.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm): New episode. “Charlie teaches Alan how to break up with a woman.” I hear hiring prostitutes can make a woman leave you.
- The Bachelor (ABC, 9:30): Season 12 premiere. “Bachelor Matt Grant, a 27-year-old British financier, meets his 25 would-be soul mates.” Apparently in America, you can finally afford to woo twice as many women as you can in the UK.

Sunday Ratings: ABC Wins Despite Lower Numbers
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Games, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Everybody Hates Chris, Family Guy, Ratings,
Fans of Oprah were feeling slightly less charitable this week. Although her show was still a hit in its hour, the program took a bit hit as well.
8pm

- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition* (12.4 million, 4.0/11 in 18-49) was off pace by 2.4 million.
- A 100 Most Outrageous Moments* repeat (2.0/6) averaged 7.28 million over two hours; The Simpsons (3.5/10) brought in a similar total.
- Big Brother (6.5 million, 2.2/6) delivered 300,000 more than last week.
- King of the Hill (6.2 million, 3.0/8) tanked by 1.5 million.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.4 million, 0.5/1) was off by 100,000; Aliens in America (1.2 million, 0.4/1) was up by the same amount.

MONDAY (3/10)
- The Bachelor: Where Are They Now? (ABC, 8pm): “Highlights from past seasons include segments catching up with past bachelors (Andrew Firestone and Aaron Buerge) and former contestants.” So the whole point of the show is to say there is no point to this show. Look at how successful it’s been!
- Canterbury’s Law (FOX, 8pm): Series premiere. “Julianna Margulies stars as a maverick defense lawyer who plays by her own rules to help the falsely accused.” I’m guessing ER will still be on long after this program goes off the air.
- New Amsterdam (FOX, 9pm): Regular day and time. If you didn’t watch last Tuesday or Thursday, I’m sure you won’t tonight either.
- October Road (ABC, 9pm): Special time. In the season (series?) finale, “Eddie’s ex-girlfriend shows up to reconnect with him, causing problems in his relationship with Janet.” Since we may never get a satisfactory resolution from this ratings-starved show, let’s just pretend Janet kicks her ass.

Now that we have come to the end of the writers’ strike, it’s time to once again update our television programming schedules.

Two notes:
- This is the updated schedule as of May 6. Be prepared to see more changes and settling in the weeks to come.
- The list consists of premieres and dates for new episodes.

The American Gladiators finale and the Knight Rider movie narrowly lost out to ABC in the viewers. The Peacock network, though, did win in the demos.

MONDAY (2/18)
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): Tonight may be the end of the show as we currently know it. Maybe Michael can finally let go of that steely gaze now.
- Dance War (ABC, 8pm): The next Dancing with the Stars contenders will be announced during the spinoff’s season finale. Finally, a reason for me to watch.
- Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm): Robin Antin is searching for a gal to complete an entirely different musical act. With Danity Kane already taken, she had to settle for the 2nd crappiest group name available.
- My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (NBC, 9pm): “This competition series features fathers and their children in challenges that test the patriarch’s strength, intelligence and parenting skills.” Since when did NBC start stealing ideas from Nick TV?
