Jennie Garth Officially Returns to 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, News,

Jennie GarthAlthough she might have been able to parlay her recent popularity into something more original, has instead chosen to follow up her work on Dancing with the Stars with another return to Beverly Hills.

It’s just been announced that the former 90210 actress will make recurring appearances in the upcoming CW spinoff.  Ever since Garth pulled out of an opportunity to star in a pilot for CBS, it was suspected this move was going to happen.  Strangely enough, the character - who once co-owned a clothing store with Donna - will now become a guidance counselor at her old stomping grounds, West Beverly.  Wow - that’s so Miss/Guided of her!

Maybe returning to (far too) familiar territory was really the lesser of two evils for Garth.  If the CBS comedy wasn’t picked up, she could have ended co-hosting Your Momma Don’t Dance with DWTS alumni .

Degrassi Star Comes to 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, News,

Shenae Grimes, DegrassiYesterday, we told you that Hilary Duff had turned down a possible role in CW’s 90210 spinoff.  Had she accepted the offer, the former Lizzy McGuire star would have been an updated version of Brenda Walsh.

Twenty-four hours later, we now know who will be playing Beverly Hills transplant Annie Mills.  Shenae Grimes, ‘s Darcy, will be crossing the Canadian border to play the theater-loving girl from Kansas.  (Seriously - did this ‘Brenda’ also have to be a fan of the stage?  Couldn’t they have come up with something more original?)

Fans of Degrassi know that Shenae is perfectly capable of playing the nice girl role.  They also know that she’s very good at turning bad as well.  So assuming the pilot gets picked up, what will this mean for our little Darcy?  Maybe she’ll be sent away to Canada’s version of Promises to get help for all her emotional issues…

Gossip Girl Won’t Go to the Web

Gossip Girl

Fans beware.  If you want to get your fix, you better plan ahead.  In hopes of creating more buzz for its popular freshman show, CW is going to make the drama’s five remaining episodes less available to the public.

Although the show has generated strong word of mouth during its debut season, network execs are still concerned about the cult hit’s bottom line.  Yes - people are watching…but it’s how they’re watching that really matters.  While streamlined videos allow Johnny-come-latelys to get caught up, that service detracts from the program’s daily numbers.
