In one of the funniest Web Redemptions ever, Daniel Tosh of Comedy Central fame flew three young American Idol fans to LA to meet David Archuleta. Of course, it wouldn’t be Tosh.0 without making the girls jump through a number of hoops before meeting their American Idol.
The truly funny skit features a three-judge audition session, a pulse-pounding elimination round as led by “Ryan Seacrest” and a coup de grace ripped right from the pages of the Se7en script. Watch the video above to see the entire Redemption.

Stephen Colbert to Celebrate Returning Troops
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, Cable, Video,
Stephen Colbert will give returning troops a true homecoming with two special episodes of The Colbert Report. The two-episode event will not be the first time the Comedy Central funnyman has honored Iraq war soldiers; he previously went to Baghdad for a special series of broadcasts issued from the combat zone.
Iraq war veterans and active service members will fill the audience on September 8 and 9. Other groups of soldiers will visit the set via satellite from Afghanistan, Iraq and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D. C. In typical Colbert fashion, the episodes are aptly named: “Been There: Won That: The Returnification of the American-Do Troopscape.”
Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Jim Webb and General Ray Odiermo will be among the special guests lined up for the event. Odiermo is a “friend of the show;” he shaved Colbert’s head when the comedian previously hosted the series from Baghdad.

Jane Lynch: Hosting SNL?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Video,
NBC hasn’t officially confirmed that Jane Lynch will be hosting SNL, but Ryan Murphy managed to spill the beans at Tuesday’s Eat Pray Love premiere. Murphy is the co-creator and mouthpiece of Glee, which Lynch stars in as Sue Sylvester.
“Saturday Night Live called to say, ‘Would you give us Jane [Lynch] for a week in October?’” Murphy told reporters. “We just don’t do that, but for Lorne Michaels, I said yes.” Sure, who wouldn’t?
Murphy sent a text to Jane Lynch right after the phone call, telling her she’ll be hosting the famous variety show. Lynch’s response? “What are you talking about?”
If the rumors pan out to be true, expect to see Jane on the October 9 broadcast of SNL.

Will Ricky Gervais Start Working in The Office?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, The Office, Gossip, Video,
Steve Carell’s character Michael Scott will be leaving The Office, but producers are already eyeballing a new funnyman to take his place.
According to rumors, Ricky Gervais may soon join the ranks of the NBC sitcom. Gervais played David Brent in the original UK version of The Office.
Executive producer Paul Lieberstein dished on some of the details: “We talked about it today for a while. It’s not the leading idea…it’s not a dead idea.” Of course, there might be some story issues. “[Brent] was fired for incompetence, so we’d have to create some back story for what happened.”
Time for the writers to get to work!

Review: Hot in Cleveland a Little Lukewarm
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Gossip, Video,
TV Land’s highly-promoted comedy, Hot in Cleveland, premiered Wednesday night. The series has Betty White‘s huge popularity, three more very respectable female comedy stars, and a gigantic marketing budget behind it. But did it deliver true TV heat?
The opening scene of the pilot introduced viewers to three great-looking, stylish women: Wendie Malick’s Victoria Chase, a former daytime TV star; Jane Leeves as Joy Scroggs, the “eyebrow queen of Beverly Hills” and Valerie Bertinelli’s Melanie Moretti, book author.
The sequence began with a series of predictable, female-oriented jokes - age and looks, mainly - but Wendie Malick’s delivery made the scene more believable. The setup: three best friends going to Paris together for a couple of weeks of fun. They traded quips until Melanie (Bertinelli) had an unfortunate run-in on the airplane with her ex-husband, on his way to Paris with his new fiancée. More melodrama ensued when the plane ride became increasingly turbulent. As they began careening toward certain death, Victoria vowed to stop being vain, Melanie to stop being afraid and Joy to stop complaining. The plane landed safely in Cleveland, and that’s when the show really began.
