Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol,

A new judge won’t be the only thing American Idol viewers see next year. Younger faces will also come included in Season 10’s package.
When auditions start up in three weeks, singers not even old enough to drive will be dropped off by their parents. That’s right - the contest will now be open to 15-year-olds. (Previous wannabes had to be at least 16 years of age.)
“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16,” Idol‘s executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz explained about the rule change. “Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.”

American Idol 9: Chicago Auditions
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories:
American Idol 9 visited the Windy City, opening this audition episode with a montage of angry, rejected contestants. It was an auspicious beginning. Shania Twain was the guest judge for this city, a development which seemed to thrill Kara DioGuardi.
The crowds who waited chanted “Yes, We Can,” in honor of Barack Obama, who called the city home until taking up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania in Washington, D.C. Viewers were quickly taken into the story of Katelyn Epperly, a pretty blonde (dyed) with pretty ringlets. Her low, sultry voice quickly proved that there’s more to her than what meets the eye, and Katelyn earned praise from the judges. “I think you have a voice that could sing a hit song, I think,” Shania Twain generously told her. Epperly earned her golden ticket, and the Chicago auditions were well under way.

Posh Spice, a.k.a. Victoria Beckham, joined Kara, Simon and Randy today for American Idol auditions in Denver, Colorado. “We gotta try and make it work, man,” said Randy Jackson of doing the show without it’s original female judge.
Kara DioGuardi said she’s “completely shocked” and that Paula Abdul’s absence is “such a loss for the show and the contestants.”
Apparently, Posh and Simon Cowell already have a history together - Cowell turned down the Spice Girls. “I think he’s great,” a smiling Victoria Beckham told reporters.
