On Gear Live: Xiaomi 17 Review: The Compact Flagship That Forgot to Act Small

Kate Winslet in Mildred Pierce

"It never occurred to me, beyond the moment of reading those scripts, 'Wow, this is television, therefore it's going to be different somehow.' Sure we have more to shoot ... but the level of determination and level of focus was so much more intense than certainly any film I've ever been apart."

-Oscar winner Kate Winslet on filming Mildred Pierce, an HBO miniseries that will debut on March 27.

It appears the actual Kennedys are the ones to thank played a role in the cancellation of The Kennedys – a miniseries once destined for the History Channel.

The eight-hour event, featuring Greg Kinnear as President John F. Kennedy, was to have focused on focus on the personal relationships within the famous family. And though Katie Holmes “worked as hard” as she could to portray former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, the project was scrapped from the channel’s schedule.

  • Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo, 8 P.M.): "James Lipton conducts an interview with actor and funnyman , star of The Truman Show (1998), Man on the Moon (1999) and the Ace Ventura films." This would be an example of a "yes man" interviewing the Yes Man.
  • Lie to Me (FOX, 8 P.M.): "When Cal (Tim Roth) is asked to determine if a mental hospital patient is being held against his will he begins to question his own sanity." When you go from Reservoir Dogs to a television series, it's natural to question yourself occasionally.

Pretty Little Liars

ABC Family’s much-anticipated winter premiere of Pretty Little Liars debuted Monday night, and fans are still mystified -- though much relieved.

Hannah (Ashley Benson) isn’t dead after all, and she revealed the identify of “A” near the top of the episode: Noel Kahn (Brant Daughtery). But … is Hannah correct? It was definitely Noel who wrote “I See You” on the rear windshield of Ezra Fitz’s (Ian Harding's) car -- he admitted as much to Aria (Lucy Hale). And that still doesn’t necessarily mean he’s "A."

Richard Chamberlain on Brothers & Sisters

"It’s complicated. There’s still a tremendous amount of homophobia in our culture. It’s regrettable, it’s stupid, it’s heartless, and it’s immoral, but there it is. For an actor to be working is a kind of miracle, because most actors aren’t, so it’s just silly for a working actor to say, 'Oh, I don’t care if anybody knows I’m gay' — especially if you’re a leading man. Personally, I wouldn’t advise a gay leading man–type actor to come out. ... Despite all the wonderful advances that have been made, it’s still dangerous for an actor to talk about that in our extremely misguided culture. Look at what happened in California with Proposition 8. Please, don’t pretend that we’re suddenly all wonderfully, blissfully accepted."

-Openly gay actor Richard Chamberlain discouraging other gay actors to come out of the closet. (Chamberlain can currently be seen playing Ron Rifkin's love interest on Brothers & Sisters.)
