50 Cent50 Cent wants to star on Glee.

The "In Da Club" hitmaker thinks he would be perfect for a guest role on the hit musical TV show and hopes producers will write an original character for him to put his acting skills to the test.

"I probably would [consider it]. Depending on what the episode was or what they had planned for it. I'm excited... I just want to work. I want to play something different. Anything other than a rapper, because I don't feel like I'm working if I'm playing that. That's the easy part," the rapper told E! News. Glee has featured an eclectic mix of guest stars in the past including Lindsay Lohan, Ricky Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, so 50 Cent could become the show's very first rapper.

50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - branched out into acting in 2005 and has since starred alongside the likes of Robert De Niro and Bruce Willis. Although he says music is his first love, the 37-year-old star is keen for more challenging film roles in the future: "I have developed a passion for film. I still love music so I write music. I got a chance to explore my new passion for film. I've been lucky enough to get it right."

Seth MacFarlaneSeth MacFarlane "never expected" Family Guy to go on for as long as it has.

The creator of the adult animated show - which was cancelled after three seasons in 2002, only to be brought back three years later due to popular demand - is shocked the series has gone on to be a huge success, and he relies on the ratings to dictate if he should continue with it.

"I never expected it to go on for so long. I ponder the end of Family Guy on a regular basis. It's important to know when a show has overstayed its welcome before your audience does. All you can do is look at the ratings. The ratings are still great, so there are still people watching it."

Seth has just made the jump from small screen to big screen with his feature-length directorial debut Ted, in which Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis star opposite a foul-mouthed teddy bear, and he insists cinema work is easier than cartoons. The 38-year-old star - who voices the character Ted and also wrote and produced the comedy movie - told Shortlist magazine, "If anything, I found I had more control. Rather than relying on 300 people to bring something to life over the course of nine months, you're relying on 300 people to bring something to life over the course of nine minutes."

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp is to make a cameo appearance in Family Guy.

The Dark Shadows actor will return to his title role from 1990 movie Edward Scissorhands for a brief gag in the adult animation. The 49-year-old star initially struggled to get back into character, but found inspiration by watching clips from the film.

"When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn't done that voice since he did it in front of the camera. [But] he was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie," Family Guy executive producer Mark Hentemann told Entertainment Weekly.

Johnny impressed everyone involved in the show with his performance - particularly the female cast and crew members. "He was amazing - and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him," he added.

Though it is not clear when Johnny's appearance will broadcast, the new series of Family Guy returns to TV on September 30.

Benedict CumberbatchBenedict Cumberbatch is making a cameo appearance in The Simpsons.

The British actor landed a voice role in the famous animated sitcom following a chance meeting in Los Angeles: "I was at a meeting in the same place The Simpsons is recorded and heard there was a part going in an episode. I said, 'I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?' Next thing, I'm standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa."

The Star Trek 2 actor - who shot to fame playing iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in TV series Sherlock - was thrilled to get to be part of the cartoon because he likes to take on as many varied roles as possible. "I like treating every job as the first time and to do that, I'll vary the work, so I'll be a knuckle head and run around with girls and guns, then I'll slow it down and do something different like [Edwardian drama] Parade's End," he said.

Cheryl ColeCheryl Cole will appear in Glee.

Jane Lynch - who plays coach Sue Sylvester in the musical TV show - has confirmed talks have been on-going for the 29-year-old star to take part in the show, but it has now been revealed she will be definitely be given a cameo role: "There's been talk on set of Cheryl appearing for a year or so, but it's set to happen now. Matthew Morrison has spoken very highly of her [after she appeared in his film What To Expect When You're Expecting] and the younger guys on set are keen to have her on, for obvious reasons. Matthew's chatted to her and she seems keen. Cheryl's the perfect Glee fit, she can sing, she can dance and she looks good. It would be cool if she played herself."

Jane also joked her alter-ego Sue would not take any messing around from the "Call My Name" hitmaker and would be harsher on her than Simon Cowell - who famously sacked her after she worked on four auditions on the US version of The X Factor.
