This Week on TV (12/21-12/27)

The Sound of Music

(Make sure to check out TV Envy’s Programming Schedule.)

MONDAY (12/21)
  • Little People, Big World (TLC, 8pm):  “Amy fears Matt is having a midlife crisis when he purchases two pricey cars when he still has to pay off their big home remodel.” She learned about this “midlife crisis” thing from watching Jon & Kate Plus Eight.
  • The Closer (TNT, 9pm):  Season finale. “Fritz grows weary of being neglected by Brenda.” Rumor has it he’s been hooking up with Sally Field on the side.
  • Men of a Certain Age (TNT, 10pm):  “Joe swings long in his efforts to bond with his son by teaching the youngster the art of golfing.” Tiger Woods’ hiatus has forced a lot of fathers to step up.
TUESDAY (12/22)
  • Scrubs (ABC, 9pm):  “As J.D.‘s teaching job at Sacred Heart comes to an end, he finds he still hungers for approval.” Unfortunately, he’ll have to live with yet another snub.
  • Outer Space Astronauts (Syfy, 9pm):  “Ka’ak throws a party when the crew reaches a boring part of space, but the alien cocktails come with consequences.” The green stuff they were drinking wasn’t exactly Midori.
  • Full Throttle Saloon (truTV, 10pm):  “Coolio and Naughty by Nature miss their plane and might not make it in time to perform at the bar.” But they’ll still get their reality show checks, right?

WEDNESDAY (12/23)
  • Dog the Bounty Hunter (A&E, 9pm):  “Dog and Beth and the team gather at their home for the holiday to reminisce.” Remember that time when Dog made those racially-offensive remarks? Oh, that seemed like yesterday…
  • Steven Seagal Lawman (A&E, 10pm):  “Steven Seagal participates in the rebuilding of a home for a family affected by Hurricane Katrina.” He splits the 2x4s with his own hands.
  • Jonas Brothers (E!, 10pm):  “A profile of the Jonas Brothers, featuring remarks by people close to the pop trio.” Taylor Swift will contribute a new song for the special.

THURSDAY (12/24)
  • It’s a Wonderful Life (NBC, 8pm):  “Frank Capra’s wondrous classic stars Oscar nominee James Stewart as a small-town banker who learns what life would have been like if he’d never been born.” There’d be ugly fights between NBC and TBS over A Christmas Story.
  • 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s (VH1, 7pm):  “Part 1 of 5. Nos. 100 through 81 are featured.” VH1 will cover songs from the last 10 years once they figure out a name for the decade.
  • Raising the Bar (TNT, 8pm):  “Jerry’s moral compass is tested when his client’s testimony against a rapist might be utterly untrue.” False accusations like that could get a show canceled.

FRIDAY (12/25)
  • Dirty Dancing (marathon) (TV Guide, 12pm-12am):  You know why no one puts Baby in a corner? They can’t. She’s like the wind!
  • ‘Til Death (FOX, 8pm):  “Kenny (J.B. Smoove) gets a job at a shopping-mall Santa, and he pleases kids more than their parents.” I don’t think that’s as bad it sounds…
  • ‘Til Death (FOX, 9pm):  “Joy makes friends with an ex-girlfriend of Eddie’s, and it turns out that she isn’t over him.” And we all thought everybody loved Raymond.

SUNDAY (12/27)
  • The Sound of Music (ABC, 7pm):  “Oscar-winning adaptation (restored to its original length) of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical stage hit.” The von Trapp family will later compete with winner for ultimate bragging rights.
  • Keeping Up with the Kardashians (E!, 10pm):  “Kim’s lying ways catch up with her.” Hah - Quick Trim my ass!
  • Everest: Beyond the Limit (Discovery, 10pm):  “Former NASA astronaut Scott Parazynski takes on the mountain.” He naively thought the mountain was much smaller based on his view up above.
