Melrose Place: Murderer Revealed! (And Promptly Murdered)
Melrose Place dished out helpings of murder, sex and a few unexpected plot twists last night. Sure, the episode had its faults…but most of them can be overlooked in light of all the interesting developments. Not to mention, viewers finally got what they’ve been waiting for: an out-and-out catfight that revealed Sydney’s true killer. Now that was fairly well scripted - though Michael’s wife was such a minor character, we probably should have been it coming.
That’s right - it was Brooke Burns who took down Laura Leighton (Sydney Andrews, who was murdered at the beginning of the pilot episode) after a vicious verbal fight that drove her over the edge. Finally, a flashback scene that was really worth watching. More of Amanda Woodward’s (Heather Locklear) motives for returning to the Place were revealed as well - it has something to do with some painting worth millions.
Much more interesting things happened in the episode…

Sydney’s killer was killed almost immediately after the secret was revealed. A tense confrontation with Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) led to a catfight in the pool (nice), and Violet subsequently killed her mother’s killer with her bare hands (scary). Amanda, who arrived toward the end of the scene, was quick to ally herself to Violet’s cause. She’s no fool.
The episode ended with a steamy sex scene between Jonah (Michael Rady) and Ella (Katie Cassidy) - finally. This is a pairing I can believe in - I was so bored with the Riley/Jonah drama I barely wanted to tune in.
