Jennie Garth and Rob Estes

Now they know how Jim and Cindy Walsh felt.

Two of the ‘s “oldest” actors - Rob Estes and Jennie Garth - have just announced that they will be leaving the CW program. Estes, who plays West Beverly’s principal and father to Annie and Dixon, will depart after Season 2. It’s not known how much longer Garth, the high school’s counselor, will appear on the program.

Although the reasons for their exits are unclear, an insider told E! Online that their ages did play a factor. “They just don’t want the old people on the new show anymore,” a source started.

Others, though, claim Estes’ financial demands were to blame. “Rob’s not happy about it all,” a source told RadarOnline. “Basically they couldn’t agree on money and that’s all it comes down to.” What this will mean for his character - or his on-screen wife (Lori Loughlin) - is not known.

At this time, it doesn’t appear Rob has any other projects currently lined up. “This is my final season on 90210 and I wish the show, cast and crew nothing but the best. I am looking forward to spending time with my kids and exploring other opportunities,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Jennie, who was never a regular on the revamped series to begin with, told Access Hollywood that she has plenty of things to keep her busy. In addition to penning a children’s book, she’ll be developing a film with husband Peter Facinelli. “It’s actually a movie that my husband wrote,” Garth revealed.

New episodes of 90210 will begin on March 9.
