Jason Castro: Already an American Idol
He’s going to get fifth place - at least - on the nation’s top show, but he’s already enjoying a huge fan base. Meet Jason Castro: crooner, cutie and American Idol of choice for the dreadheads.
Their base of operations is daydreamingboy.com, and their goal is support Castro’s bid for the AI crown. Last week, Castro was roundly abused for his choice to sing the famous “Memory.“ Couple this with exhaustion and chills, and it’s enough to prompt the dreadheads to action.

Upon learning of his illness, a PayPal account was set up to receive donations. The fan club raise $450, enough to order seven balloon bouquets from Planet Florist (Westwood, CA). Three cars carried the bouquets to their destination. “It was the biggest order that we ever had,” Paul Psai, one of the designers, told reporters.
The balloons bore uplifting messages such as “congratulations,” “thank you,” “get well soon,” that sort of thing, in show of support and sympathy for Idol’s dreadlocked vocalist. Balloon bouquets aren’t the only way the dreadheads have shown their support for Castro. The site contains pictures, a virtual bus, message boards and Jason Castro performances. The site organizes virtual pep rallies and bonfires thrown in Jason’s honor, including one with a Hawaiian theme that was hosted shortly after Jason crooned “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
The group has invited other Idol fan clubs to their parties, including Kristy Lee Cook’s supporters. Dreadheads also helped raise money for David’s brother, and don’t allow negative comments (even those against Castro competitors) on the site. Jason may win American Idol and he may not, but he’s already won the hearts of many Castro-loving dreadheads.
