Beauty And The Geek: ‘Whine And Dine’

There are three teams left on B&G There are three teams left in the Beauty and the Geek house: Sam & Nicole, Dave & Jasmine and William & Jenn. Will and Jenn survived last week’s elimination room challenge and sent home Shay and Josh. Despite the fact that Dave and Jasmine began regretting their choice to keep Will and Jenn two weeks ago, Dave claimed that he was happy to see them walk through the door because it would give them a chance to finally work out their differences. Dave/Jasmine and Sam/Nicole welcomed Will/Jenn back with semi-faked happiness anyway and had a moment of silence for Josh and Shay. The moment was interrupted when somebody farted. I’m not sure who it was.

Join me after the jump to find out which two teams are going to the B&G finale and does Dave finally make his move on Nicole?

Dave and female geek Nicole had a heart to heart and talked about their past relationships. In private confessionals, both expressed an interest in one another. Dave hopes that once the whole thing is over he can ask her out so as to not make things in the house awkward.

Host Mike Richards informs the teams that this week’s challenge would be taking place at a winery. The challenge will be a team event with the winning team moving on to the finals, and the two losers facing off in the elimination room. Mike tells the crew to prepare by studying packets of information on wine.

When the teams arrive at the winery, they see barrels which will clearly be used for grape-stomping. Sam, who has won five out of the eight beauty challenges is clearly at an advantage. Will and Jenn are clearly not getting along - they haven’t won a single challenge this season. In this challenge, the teammates were tied together by the ankles and waist. First, they had to walk down a hill and collect 10lbs of grapes each - without a scale to judge the weight. Will & Jenn and Dave & Jasmine made it back first. Dave and Jasmine had 20lbs. Will and Jenn didn’t have enough - 13lbs.

Dave and Jasmine started squashing the grapes in the barrel - way ahead of the other teams. Unfortunately, the spout wasn’t pouring the grapes juice as it should have been, so they had to remove the spout. The next task was to bottle three bottles of the juice and walk it back down the hill to host Mike. Jasmine and Dave were way ahead of the other teams as they were leaving with three full bottles of grape juice just as the other teams were beginning to bottle theirs. Carefully, D & J made their way to finish line (so as to not drop and break the bottles which were balanced on a tray) and celebrated their victory.

At a post-challenge meal on a beautiful hilltop, the teams surmised that they were seeing a new side of Sam - a poor sport who completely shuts down when he doesn’t get his way. Sam was, indeed, a bit distant - refusing to eat or socialize with the others. Will and Jenn think Sam’s distraction will work to their advantage later on in the elimination room.

But before the teams would be heading into elimination, all three pairs were ushered into the study for a surprise. In front of them sat a TV. On that TV appeared videos of all three teams’ first days in the house, including Dave and Jasmine’s foam sword fight, Will and Jenn having a very early muscle vs. fat argument and the never before seen moment in which Sam and Nicole met for the very first time. Dave was embarrassed to see himself and hear the comments he made early on about not wanted to be Jasmine’s teammate. Sam was cheered up by watching himself and Nicole interact. And everyone was surprised when they realized that Will and Jenn’s dislike for each other didn’t develop over time - it was almost immediate.

Dave and Nicole study together - he is looking to help her win because he wants her to stick around a couple more days. Nicole just thinks he wants her to have a shot at winning the whole thing. Dave wants to ask her out. Jasmine decides to help him and says that if Sam and Nicole returned from elimination they would go on a double date. Nicole helps Sam study - he’s still kind of bummed. Will and Jenn study intensely and decide to put the past aside and focus on the elimination. For the most part.

Jasmine, perhaps rather overzealously, sets up a meeting between Dave and Nicole before elimination in hopes that Dave will tell Nicole how he feels about her - just in case she doesn‘t come back. It was clear as day to everyone what Jasmine was trying to do - definitely a high school moment. Dave tells Nicole that he hopes she returns to the house because he really likes her and that he hopes that when they return to Boston (where they both live) that they can meet up and go on a date. Rather than answer, Nicole hugged him - the writing was on the wall. In confessional, Nicole says that she likes Dave but … get ready for it … only as a friend. Ugh. So many guys around the world cringed at the same moment. Jasmine busts in after Nicole leaves and grills Dave on how it went. He, of course, thinks it went swimmingly and still hopes she returns. If anything, it was great to see Dave grow to the point where he can ask out a woman - it was a big step for him.

Elimination time. Beauties will go first - wine questions. Jenn answers her wine-color related question correctly. Sam answers his wine God question correctly. Sam credits Nicole for giving him that answer before the challenge. Jenn answers her question incorrectly which surprises both her and Will. Sam answers his second question correctly giving he and Nicole a one-point lead. Will takes responsibility for costing Jenn her question because he mispronounced the answer to her when they studied.

It’s the geeks’ turn. Will answers his wine temperature question correctly. Nicole answers her wine alcohol content question correctly. Will must answer his question right to keep them alive. Will’s question is about … Amy Winehouse??? What the hell kind of question is that? Of course Will didn’t know that answer! What a horrible question to get. He gets the answer wrong. Will was very frustrated about his question choice, on the verge of tears, and knew he should have chosen #3. Turns out he knew the answer to that question. Will laments over the fact that he and Jenn were finally starting to get along.

In their post-loss confessional, the pair admit that they were finally starting to like each other, and also argue over the weight of muscle vs. fat. I still say that Winehouse question is bull - I’d love to see if that was even in their study material.

Next week: the teams take a trip home and introduce their beauty, or geek, to the family. And we are promised that this year’s winner will be decided in a way that we never expected. The game has evolved again. And until then … stay tuned.
