American Idol: Another Week, More Elimination Interviews

Were you surprised when Jason Yeager, Alexandrea Lushington, Robbie Carrico and Alaina Whitaker were sent packing? Well, so were they. What’s next for the latest four contestants who got booted from the American Idol stage?
MTV
Would-be rocker Robbie Carrico talked to MTV about his Britney Spears days and the controversy over his long, raggedy blonde locks. Internet rumors have fueled the flames of gossip that Carrico wears a wig. Honestly, I never believed this one for a minute - no one would pay for hair that looks so bad. During his interview, Carrico re-confirmed the reality of his head banger hairdo. The contestant Simon Cowell said wasn’t “authentic” went on to say that he hasn’t talked to Britney in years, but that “she’s a really good girl.” And what about his rock n roll persona? “This is me - you get what you see,” Carrico told his interviewer. Yeah…I still don’t buy it, Robbie. Furthermore, I feel like you earned enough from reality TV to buy yourself a nice hairbrush. Please, do so.
Attractive Alexandrea Lushington is being considered a “surprise” elimination, an assessment I don’t agree with. I wasn’t surprised, and personally I think it all comes down to clothing. Alexandrea talked about her closeness with Idol front-runner David Archuleta, who visibly wept as she was told to leave the contest. The pair were on Star Search together years ago. Alexandrea said “it was fun, I guess” to get “dressed up” for the show. “I wasn’t necessarily into makeup and hair and all this,” she said, calling herself “the only tomboy visually there.” Lushington also said “it was kind of cool” to look the way she did. No, dear…it wasn’t.
Blonde-stripe-in-his-head-single-dad Jason Yeager expressed disappointment that he was not featured more on the show, saying it was out of his hands. Here’s a clue: be more interesting, then you’ll get camera time. Of this lack of exposure, Yeager said “I don’t want to be sour about it, I’m just kind of disappointed. I felt like I had a lot of offer the show.” I heard enough from Yeager with his terrible version of “Moon River.” Idol was not Yeager’s first foray into reality TV - he was in the Final 25 of the first season of Making the Band. Yeager said he will always love music, but that he’s thinking about going into acting. Good luck with that.
Alaina Whitaker talked at length about her friendship with Kady Malloy (I told ya so) and said she was shocked when the pair of them were called on stage during the Thursday’s elimination show. Alaina said she felt “it’s a compliment” that people were surprised to see her leave the show. Alaina’s young, blonde, and pretty - she’ll be just fine.
