Idol Gives Back wasn’t a win-win for everyone. In the midst of all the glitterati, Top 7 contender Tim Urban was eliminated from the show. Now that he’s free to talk to the press, he had a few things to say about becoming the longest-running Vote For the Worst contender to date…and he certainly isn’t smiling over their choice.

Vote For the Worst has been promoting Tim for a record-making 9 weeks on the website, which until Wednesday night featured a large caricature of him at the top of the page. Every year, VFTW picks an Idol contender who’s the “worst,” or at least the one whom it seems the producers and judges of the show like least. But Tim wasn’t at all flattered by their support, which he gained very early in the season.

“I’m not excited I was on their website. It’s really not anything that anybody should be proud of,” Tim said in a statement to the press. Evidently, he’s never seen the picture of a grinning Taylor Hicks proudly holding up his Vote For the Worst official T-shirt. “Basically I was working my hardest to get off of it. I’m actually kind of sad that I was on that website,” Urban added. Clearly he’s not familiar with VFTW, which continues to promote their picks long after the Idol footlights have stopped shining on them.

But Tim isn’t going to let anything keep him down - as his trademark, ever-present smile proves. When asked about the future, Urban was back to grinning. “I would love to pursue music, and I’m hoping that door opens up. I’ve always had a desire to act and to be on that side of the entertainment industry,” he added. As I’ve already stated, I think that would be a great idea.

Vote For the Worst has already taken down their Tim Urban graphic and moved on to a new pick - Siobhan Magnus. I like her, too.
