“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I’m gay,” Adam Lambert said in his highly-anticipated Rolling Stone interview. Really, it isn’t. After months of photos featuring a glammed-up Lambert in the company of beautiful men, the real shocker would have been hearing him say he’s straight.

“Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters,” he explained. Lambert went on to say he decided to wait for Rolling Stone, and that’s exactly what he did.

“I’ve been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I’ve been at clubs, drunk, making out with somebody in the corner.” Sounds like Lambert would get on like gangbusters with Lindsay Lohan.

“I’m proud of my sexuality,” he told the mag. “I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.” But Lambert isn’t just a gay guy who was on American Idol, once. “I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader.”
