Tampa Bay Lightning complete sweep of Washington Capitals

What does a Tampa Bay Lightning sweep of the Washington Capitals mean? It means the 41-year-old Dwayne Roloson can still mind net. It means the Lightning are going to the Eastern Conference Final. But most importantly, it means that Bruce Boudreau’s coaching career in Washington may be over. His Capitals, who had a better record than any other team in the East, now have a lot of navel-gazing to do as they try to figure out what happened this time.

Blue Jays turning heads with fifth straight win

Is there a team with more to prove than the Toronto Blue Jays? Before the season began a week ago, many already wrote the Jays off as the basement dwellers in the American League East. Six games into the season, they own sole possession of first with a 5-1 record after taking two from Texas to begin the road trip and following that up with a sweep of Baltimore, who were supposed to have leapfrogged the Jays in sheer talent. The Jays sent a message to the nation by winning their fifth straight.

Red Sox are down but not out

Two down, one to go. That’s the only thing going through the minds of the Los Angeles Angels. Two games into their ALDS series against the Boston Red Sox, the Angels are up two wins to zero, and can clinch a ride to the League Championship Series with a third win on Sunday afternoon. However, as has been said time and time again, the hardest game to win is the last one, and you can be sure that the Red Sox will not go down without a fight.
Fate is working both for and against the Angels in this series. It is working for them in the fact that since the Divisional Series’ were introduced in 1995, only four teams have ever come back to win a series after being down 2-0. Two of those were the 1995 Seattle Mariners who beat the New York Yankees, and the other was the 2001 Yankees, who took down the Oakland Athletics. However, fate is working against the 2009 Angels, because those other two teams that came back from 2-0 down were the 1999 and 2003 versions of the Boston Red Sox.

Blogging our way through Game 4 of the NBA Finals
Posted by Brendon Lindsey Categories: Championship, NBA,
Game 4 of the NBA Finals begins shortly, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the San Antonio Spurs are on the cusp of eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs winning 4-0 would be fitting, given the great lengths the NBA has gone through to try and tie in the new Fantastic Four movie. (We get it, Duncan, LeBron, Manu, and Parker are like the Fantastic Four, but without superpowers, without saving the world, and competing against one another.)
So far this series, Duncan and Parker have been absolutely trashing the Cavs, while Manu has been fairly sporadic in his playing, like normal. Can the Cavs manage to win one at home in their first Finals in the Age of LeBron? Will the Spurs continue to make basketball boring for the casual fan? How many times will we be reminded about Robert Horry’s accomplishments, and will we be treated to several more on-screen appearances by Brent Barry? Most likely: no, yes, seventeen, and yes.
Stick around EndScore and refresh this page every now and then, as I’ll be constantly blogging my thoughts while watching the game unfold—unless I fall asleep, that is.
