Aaron Harang working deal with San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres have begun to retool after having their starting rotation decimated. They lost Jon Garland and Kevin Correia, who combined for 24 wins last year, and also saw Chris Young leave the team, who was injured for most of the season, but who also has the potential to be an excellent pitcher in the middle of a rotation. Reports are surfacing that the Padres have inked former Cincinnati Reds starter Aaron Harang to a one-year deal worth $3 million.

Chris Sale makes jump to major league roster

Chris Sale has become the fastest player to go from a draft to the major leagues since Ryan Wagner in 2003. The Chicago White Sox picked Sale 13th overall in the 2010 MLB Draft then signed him quickly, despite reservations from teams with higher selections that Sale might be a tough sign. He started in high A-Winston Salem and moved quickly through to triple-A Charlotte before getting the call to Chicago’s South Side before Wednesday’s game against the Tigers.

Halos Down Bo-Sox 5-3

Thanks in part to home runs from Vladimir Guerrero and Torii Hunter, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were able to defeat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 5-3 on Sunday. Long reliever Darren Oliver notched the victory, while Tim Wakefield took the loss.

Twins Demolish White Sox In Doubleheader

Eleven games. Thats how long it took for the Arizona Diamondbacks to score 30 runs overall. Today Joe Mauer and the Minnesota Twins scored 30 runs in two games. In game one of the doubleheader phenom catcher Joe Mauer had four hits and five RBI’s. In game two reigning AL MVP Justin Morneau hit three home runs. These two losses pushed the White Sox 13 games behind first place in their division. Game one ended with a football score of 20-14, and in game two the Twins blanked the White Sox with a score of 12-0. Surprisingly, normally hot-headed manager Ozzie Guillen was calm following these two losses.

“It was hard to watch, hard to feel that way,” Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said. “You can do nothing about it.”
