The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling to win games lately, or as Leafs fans call it, performing to expectations. Leafs head coach Ron Wilson and GM Brian Burke have reportedly not had conversations about Wilson’s future, but after scoring just 15 goals in their last nine games, something is clearly wrong with Toronto, and as always, Wilson and his job have become the center of attention in the media. Wilson has struggled to find a winning lineup of players, but that may also result from an incredible lack of depth among his players.

Lightning begin spring cleaning

The housecleaning has begun. The Tampa Bay Lightning have let go of coach Rick Tocchet and General Manager Brian Lawton and team owner Jeff Vinik has begun the search for replacements. The announcements were made over the weekend as the Lightning finished another season without an entry into the playoffs. This is the third consecutive season the Lightning have failed to make the cut, despite their 80 points being the team’s highest point total since 2006-07.

NHL stars to own Stars of NHL?

Word is slowly getting around that Hockey Hall of Famer Brett Hull wants to own the Dallas Stars. Not just that, but the former Stars’ general manager is trying to get Wayne Gretzky and Mike Modano on board with his plans. The Dallas Observer has published a report that Dallas owner Tom Hicks is looking to unload the team and the trio are among the potential groups who may find themselves with a new job title.

O’Reilly’s fists didn’t do all the talking

Now that we’ve more or less recovered from the green beer and shenanigans of St. Patrick’s Day, it’s time to take a look at some other important parts of Irish history: infractions and Boston. Former NHL winger Terry O’Reilly was famous for both. The ex-Bruin made a name for himself in Beantown thanks largely to his scoring touch, but more significantly for his staggeringly large number of penalty minutes. O’Reilly tallied 2,095 in his 14-year career.
