Youkilis is greeted by David Ortiz at home plate
The Boston Red Sox clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday, defeating the Cleveland Indians by a score of 5-4. Kevin Youkilis homered and Dustin Pedroia hit a 2 RBI double to help out the winning cause.

“We still have a chance to win the division and win it all,” center fielder Coco Crisp said. “I think we have a better shot this year than we did last year.”

Taking the loss in this match-up was Cliff Lee, the 22 game winner. The loss just Lee’s third of the season, his last loss coming on July 6th. Lee may have let fatigue set in; last night was Lee’s third consecutive start having allowed four or more runs.

Meanwhile, another year, another playoff berth for the Boston Red Sox. The Bo-Sox will now be playoff bound for the third consecutive season, and eliminated the New York Yankees from playoff contention tonight.

“It’s different, but it doesn’t get any less exciting or less satisfying,” Boston manager Terry Francona said. “We know we have more baseball to play.”

Jason Bay, a mid-season acquisition, is ecstatic with his new team.

“I feel like a kid, jumping around spraying champagne with all these guys,” he said. “It’s been a different journey for me.”
