Rangers Score 30 Runs, Break Modern Day Record

The Texas Ranger broke out their big bats today, and scored 30 runs in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. Two home run days came for Ramon Vazquez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Both Salty and Vazquez had 7 RBI’s on career games. Daniel Cabrera took the hill for the Orioles, and actually, didn’t do as badly as you’d think. He got through 5 innings, gave up 9 hits and gave up 6 runs. But poor Brian Burres took the hit for the Orioles. He was the proverbial, “Travis Harper,” of the game today. He threw 0.2 innings giving up 8 hits and 8 runs, and well, ouch. Rob Bell didn’t help, giving up 7 runs in his effort today. Also Paul Shuey, who wishes he had a time machine to go back to the nineties, gave up 9 runs. Shuey’s comeback effort has proved fruitless this year, with a 6.75 ERA.

Tonight the O’s and Rangers will play game two of a day night doubleheader, but how the heck do you follow up a game like this? The Rangers have all the momentum in the world going into this game. John Rheinecker will get the start for the Rangers in game two, and Garret Olson will take the hill for the Orioles.
