Despite recent rumors that Kevin Garnett would request a trade to a team that has a better shot at the playoffs, on Tuesday he made clear that those rumors were not valid. Garnett has spent his entire 12 year career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although the Big Ticket is out indefinitely with a quad injury, he’s leading the team with 22.4 points per game and an NBA leading 12.8 rebounds per game. Garnett, could have suffered the quad injury due to averaging 39.4 minutes per game; while only 30 years old, KG is NBA-old, playing his 12th season in the league this year.

Of the discarded trade rumor Garnett said “Let’s keep it real. The (salary cap) dollars are there. When you are dealing with the kids who came to the NBA from high school we take pride in the opportunity we have been given. (Los Angeles Lakers’ star) Kobe (Bryant) has been fortunate to stay in L.A., and hopefully (Cleveland Cavalier star) LeBron (James) will be fortunate to stay where he is. Hopefully, I can stay here and make this right.”

Although Garnett told the media he’s not interested in a trade, a change of scenery would be the best thing for his career. Garnett should look for a trade to be on a team where he can play more sparingly but have a better shot at a championship as Karl Malone did in his latter years with the Lakers.  Of course, the Mailman couldn’t get his ring, but things could be different for KG since he’s younger than Malone was when he went down south from Utah. 

But, will Garnett punch his ticket and play big for another team?  Time will tell.
