Available in black, blue, green, red or orange, the speaker features a 1W output and volume control. Look for it to hit Japan first with a ¥2814 (~$33.00) price tag, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this travels for the holiday season.

Audio-Technica SOLiDGE Forged Speakers

Japan’s Audio-Technica is releasing a new line of portable speakers they have dubbed SOLiDGE. Made of a forged aluminum structure, the manufacturing is similar to that of Katana swords. The company claims that using that technique will enhance their “signature sound” by reducing vibrations. We are not sure that is true, but we certainly like their looks. Due out January 23, the AT-SPS7 will cost about $280.00 while smaller the ATH-SPS5 will retail for about $130.00.

Yorozu Universal Speaker Kit

Got an empty box, soda can or piece of glass? The Yorozu Universal Speaker Kit will turn them or any other thing you have lying around into a speaker. The process is a vibrating sonic transducer which transfers sound from your MP3 player or sound system and sends it to the object. At a weight of only 26g, it is made of ABS resin and will run about 10 hours on batteries. The kit includes a connection coil and seal, and carries a price of ¥4,980 ($56.30.)

Marantz M-CR502 Mini Audio System

Marantz has a new mini-audio system. The M-CR502 comes with a CD player and amp, and has speakers with RMS output pf 50W each. The system has a frequency response of 5Hz-20kH, a signal to noise ratio of 86dB, a dome shaped tweeter and a 130mm aluminum subwoofer. It comes with a USB port for playing MP3s or WMAs, and has a AM/FM radio and equalizer with five presets. The M-CR502 amp is available for ¥59,850 (~$600.00) with the speakers sold separately for ¥49,350 (~$490.00.)

LG Scarlet LG80 HDTV

LG has unveiled their Scarlet LG80 LCD TV with 3.1 channel virtual surround sound. The speakers slide out of the side automatically when you turn it on. There is also a center channel speaker dedicated to the human vocal range and a woofer on the back. The TV features 1080p HD, a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, and 50W output. There are USB 2.0 and 2 HDMI 1.3 ports. The LG80 will be available this month in Asia and next year in other locations.
