iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak coming today
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Mods / Hacks, Software,

Alright guys, we know you’ve been waiting for the official jailbreak method ever since the iPhone 1.1.3 firmware went live last week. Fret no more, as that day has finally come. While it isn’t released just yet, we can confirm that the iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak method will be available later today. In fact, it may be out in as little as an hour or two. As you can see in our image above, we have our web clips and Installer.app running on our 1.1.3 iPhone. Even better, if you are uncomfortable with all the command line typing that it takes to jailbreak your phone, you will be happy to know that a new Special Edition version of iBrickr will be available later today as well, and it will be fully capable of jailbreaking your iPhone running the 1.1.3 firmware.
EDIT: Oh yeah, for all you iPhone owners running OS X rather than Windows, a version of iBrickr for OS X is definitely in the works!
EDIT #2: Here are the goods. The iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak software for Windows and for OS X.

CES 2008 Video: Bug Labs on the Bug Base and Bug Platform

Think Lego Mindstorms meets Radio Shack. Bug Labs has been working on their Bug Base—a fully modifiable, open-source gadget building block system. The base itself includes specs similar to “a three-year-old laptop” but includes WiFi and Ethernet, USB and more. Once you have the base, you can add additional “modules,” including LCD displays, GPS, cameras, motion sensors and tons more. Each of the modules will require you to program them using a software package similar to VisualStudio in appearance, but everything is open source. Bug Labs has about 80 different sensors on the roadmap right now and they’re constantly interfacing with the community to come up with new ideas.
The concept has a lot of promise and some great tinkering cred. For the first 60 days, they’re offering an early-adopter special with the base costing just $299 (down from $349) and modules ranging from $49-$119. Pre-orders began on January 21st and will ship by March.
Take a look at our video to see us get our hands on the base and its modules and to talk to Jeremy from Bug Labs about what’s coming down the road and what’s in store for Bug Labs.
BREAKING NEWS: Heath Ledger Found Dead
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Obituaries,
On a day when Hollywood should be celebrating movies, actors are instead mourning the loss of one of their own.
Actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in New York by his housekeeper. The star in this year’s The Dark Knight was only 28. While no official cause of death has been released, it appears it may have been drug-related.
Ledger, a Best Actor nominee for 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter. Matilda’s mother, actress Michelle Williams, met Heath in 2004 on the set of their Oscar-nominated movie. Although it was often rumored the two were married, the couple parted ways last September. Prior to Williams, Ledger had been in an on-and-off relationship with another former co-star, Naomi Watts.
In addition to this year’s Batman sequel, Ledger’s work can currently be seen in I’m Not There (co-starring recent nominee Cate Blanchett).
Mel Gibson - Heath’s co-star in 2000’s The Patriot - just released this statement to Entertainment Tonight about the tragic news:
“I had such great hope for him. He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

The nominations for the 80th Annual Academy Awards were announced bright and early Tuesday morning from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Assuming the ceremony goes on as scheduled, you can see the live broadcast Sunday, February 24th on ABC.
Notable additions/omissions from today’s announcement:
- Based on the major categories alone, it looks like Michael Clayton may be the frontrunner. It received six nominations.
- Aside from one nod each in the Best Supporting Actor category, both Into the Wild and Charlie Wilson’s War were virtually shut out from the top prizes.
- Sweeney Todd - winner for Best Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes - was shut out for Best Picture. Johnny Depp’s nom was the only major accolade for the film.
- A much-deserving Amy Adams did not receive a nom nor did her film, Enchanted.
- Atonement - the movie with the most nominations at the Globes - only received 3 in the major areas. The two main stars (Knightley, McAvoy) were also shut out.
- Cate Blanchett earned two nominations this year (Elizabeth: The Golden Age, I’m Not There).
- Angelina Jolie was not recognized for her heartbreaking performance in A Mighty Heart.
- And last but not least, great news for (my personal) standouts this year: Ellen Page (Juno), Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises) and screenwriter Click to continue reading 2008 Academy Award Nominations

Oliver Stone to Tell the Tale of George W. Bush
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Political, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
In the history of the United States of America, no president has become a star of pop culture quite like George W. Bush. In his two terms in the White House, there have been more SNL skits, more jokes, tons of movies and more clips of his press conferences than you can shake a Bill of Rights at. Now, director Oliver Stone will create a full length feature film depicting the Presidency that changed our Constitution. Stone has previously created movies about JFK and Nixon, and promises reporters this new movie will tell the true tale of Bush’s time in office.
Currently, the director is in talks with actor Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men) to play the title role. If all goes well and production begins on schedule, the movie will be released in November during the heat and hostility of election time. If this timetable can’t be met, Stone is hopeful he can have the movie in theaters the following January (when the new Pres is being inaugurated).
In his own words, Stone says he will make a movie that is “a fair, true portrait” of our current president. So…it’s going to be a tragic comedy, right?

The Amazing Race 12: “The Final Push”
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Amazing Race, The, Features,

Season 12 of The Amazing Race started with 11 teams…and in tonight’s finale, we were down to the last three. Since their start way back in Los Angeles, CA, the remaining groups had traveled approximately 30,000 miles and reached four different continents.
Still in the race were Christina/Ronald (the father/daughter team once known for ugly criticisms from daddy); TK/Rachel (the Hippies who were always very chill and pleasant with each other) and Nicolas/Donald (the grandfather/grandson duo with the oldest competitor to make it to the Final Three).

MONDAY (1/21)- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): “T-Bag enlists Bellick to display his gladiatorial skills once again as the battle between Lechero and Sammy for control of Sona comes to a head.” If they can’t beat American Gladiators, FOX will encourage its characters fight like ‘em.
- Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann (ABC, 8pm): “Viewers cast their first vote for their favorite teams after they perform live song-and-dance routines.” They’ve finally reached the phase I actually care about.
- Wildfire (ABC Family, 9pm): Season 4 premiere. I have absolutely no idea what this show is about, but it sounds like a trashy romance novel. Oh wait - this is a family channel. Never mind.
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 9pm): “John and Cameron try to fit in a new school.” Is an education really the most important thing for John at this point? Shouldn’t he be honing his street smarts or something?

‘Cloverfield’ Warning: Take Your Motion Sickness Pills
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Action, Drama, Horror, Thrillers, Filmmaking,

Tonight, I was really looking forward for my chance to see Cloverfield. Not only was I intrigued by the trailers, I was relieved to watch a movie that was only 1.5 hours long. A short run time basically guaranteed the action would start quickly. Unfortunately, the J.J. Abrams production ended up feeling like the longest 85 minutes of my life. (And that wasn’t because it was necessarily a bad film.) It was also the most nauseating experience I had had in quite some time. (And that wasn’t because it was a particularly gory film. In fact, it was fairly tame.) Cloverfield just happened to be the shakiest piece of film I can recall having to endure. Period.
Had this been any other movie, I might have walked out on it. The problem was that I wanted to sit through the whole thing. (I needed to see that bad-ass monster for myself.) If that meant averting my gaze through a third of the film, I figured that would still be better than completely leaving halfway through it. I refused to wimp out.
But if any of you out there have a problem with motion sickness, heed my advice: Take Your Dramamine! Envision the shaky home video your friend took at your wedding. Then imagine them running with the camera. Then extend that same piece of film (with no pauses) to movie-length. I like to think that I can stomach a lot, but this was The Blair Witch Project x 10. (Though when compared to the sickening feeling I felt on a casino boat once, this was about half as bad.)

Recently Married Eddie Murphy Suddenly Not
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,
I have to admit, I think I might have had something to do with this.
Although they exchanged vows in Bora Bora just two weeks ago, Eddie Murphy and producer Tracey Edmonds have already parted ways. The two, who had been together since the fall of 2006, became engaged July 2007. People magazine is reporting that the relationship’s shocking demise may have been linked to the actor’s treatment of Edmonds following the ceremony. According to an attendee, he at several times was openly rude to his new bride.
Other than the fact that she was once married to Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, I really know nothing about Tracey. But she has always appeared to be a very strong, intelligent woman. So why wasn’t she able to see the slimy writing on the wall? I could have told her this wasn’t going to work out.
Let’s look at the glaring signs. In August ‘05, Eddie and his gorgeous wife of 12 years announced they were divorcing. The couple had been together for a total of 17 years and had five children together. Did I mention the former model is absolutely gorgeous? Around the time his divorce was finalized in April 2006, he had moved on and was dating Melanie Brown. By December of that same year, he was already seeing Tracey and denying that he was the father of any ‘Scary’ child. (And we all know how that one ended.)
