Apparently the CES agrees as they awarded it with a Best Innovation Award in In-Vehicle Control. The 2-way vehicle security device offers multi-level arming, status by way of LED light, remote valet start, and power door and trunk locks. It will also keep track of event history, just in case you have neglected to take care of that menial task. Don’t you just love gadgets that do your work for you? Powerline HD PlusNetgear’s Powerline HD Plus (HDX111) took the award for the Best of Home Networking. It will take an ordinary electrical outlet and turn it into an HD streaming connection. It features an ethernet adapter that can connect to PCs, DVRs, game systems, and Tivos for both audio and video transmission. The Powerline has Quality of Service (QoS) for video, voice, and data and Netgear claims it can transfer files 12 times faster than its previous models. Zeppelin

Bowers & Wilkins’ Zeppelin captured the Best Audio Component Award at this year’s CES. Compatible with nanos, 5G iPods, as well as other MP3 players, it will hold thousands of digital stereo tracks and looks kewl as well. It features a frequency range of -6dB at 47Hz, a 22kHz amplifier, and a power output 1x 50W (bass) 2x 25W (midrange/tweeter.) Connect with inputs of 30-pin iPod or 3.5 mini-jack or TOS link and output by S-video. At a size of 7.8 x 25.2 x 8.2-inches and a weight of 16.5 lbs, the Zeppelin is available at the Apple Store for $599.95.

Windows Mobile 7

The Inside Microsoft blog has scored an exclusive first look at Windows Mobile 7, and boy is it hot. Taking some user interface cues from the as well as throwing some truely unique and possibly revolutionary ideas the whole package looks slick, usable, and very much ‘the future’. The OS features a multi-touch interface similar to the Microsoft Surface table, and additionally features gesture based actions allowing a user to shake or rotate the phone to perform on-screen operations.

7 looks to be leaps and bounds ahead of the currently released Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 OS’s. This kind of software revolution may just be the edge Microsoft needs to keep their market share in the mobile space and help give them an edge in the upcoming generation of portable internet and media centric devices.

Slingbox PRO-HD

Sling Media, Inc. has announced the newest iteration of Slingbox. The Slingbox PRO-HD is capable of placeshifting over the air, cable, satellite and even DVR HD signals to a computer in the house. 

When the PRO-HD is used with a , the PRO-HD will stream HD content in either 4:3 and 16:9 to another TV in the house, and when the PRO-HD and Slingcatcher are combined with an upload connection speed of 1.5 - 2Mbps, the PRO-HD will stream HD content to another television or computer anywhere, without down-converting the resolution to EDTV. 

Slingbox PRO-HD will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2008 with an estimated MSRP of $400.00. We will have some video up of this, along with the Slingcatcher, up on our CES 2008 video page.

maestro-google

has premiered their newest GPS unit for autos, the 5340+GPRS, the first GPS unit with Google Local Search.  Users can search their area for events, businesses and services, receiving real-time results from Google based upon the user’s current location or a specified location.

The wireless GPRS service also enables the unit to deliver up-to-the-minute information on traffic and weather.  Additionally, users planning trips in advance can send addresses or other information directly to the unit using the wireless service.  In case a change to an itinerary is needed while the trip is in progress, third parties can send changes to the unit using the Magellan website.

Like the rest of the recently-introduced Elite line, the 5340+GPRS features voice command, a USB port and 6 million points of interest.  It also features a 533 MHZ S-Media 3362 processor and and a 5-inch WQVGA widescreen.  The Maestro 5340+GPRS will be available for puchase in March for and estimated $1299.
