LED Illuminated Message Board lights up your life, and drawings

Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Accessories, Smart Home, Misc. Tech,

When I first saw the Illuminated Message Board, I wondered who could need such a showy product. Then I thought of all the businessmen who could use some extra attention-getter for their small shops, and I began to see a market for it.
You will notice that I didn’t say who would want the LED Illuminated Message Board. The idea of owning a board that I could write glowing messages and pictures is a never-granted wish plucked from my own childhood. Sadly, the luminescent pics are not forever, but they do last 50,000 hours. All in all, it sounds like a good deal, as you should be able to get it at Chinavision for about $20.

Excuse me, is that a SB6309 Cigarette Lighter phone?

Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Accessories, Smartphones, Rumors,

We haven’t really covered many cigarette-related products here at Gear Live, and this next product is one that my source cannot confirm its existence. This SB6309 Lighter Phone has a feature that would have been on all the cellular phones of the sixties: a cigarette lighter. Of course, this was back before we learned that cigarettes are bad for you (presumably).
All the user/smoker has to do is slide back the cover and light their cig on the red hot square. Hopefully, the cover is good, or this device will literally burn a hole in your pocket.
Well, I think I’ve finished making all the jokes I can about a product that may or may not exist. The only “fact” that I know for sure is that it comes in red, brown, and black. I wonder if the red is Marlboro red. Okay, I still had one cig joke left in me.

Motorola drops new H790 and T215 Bluetooth accessories

Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Accessories, Smartphones,

Motorola never ceases to work, as they have introduced two new Bluetooth headsets at once. The first (left on photo) is the H790, with a thin design and dual microphones, and equipped with CrystalTalk technology that will suppress background noise. The H790 also has a voice prompt that lets the user know if he or she is on mute, the remaining battery life, and even how to pair.
The T215 works as a black speakerphone that will slip onto a car’s visor, and also features CrystalTalk technology. It also has 36 hours of talk time, a 2-watt speaker, noise cancellation, plus mute.

Tokyoflash Independent ITX21-5132 watch

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Wearables, Design,

We are fans of Tokyoflash watches, mostly because they “get” the tech lifestyle, and you can see it embodied in their work. We think they’ve gone aboev and beyond with their latest Independent collection, which featured four uniquely stylish watches. However, to us, the Independent ITX21-5132 is just downright awesome. The design features a sphere cut crystal glass face, stainless steel band, and even has a hidden LCD digital display underneath the analog dial.
It’s a limited run, so if you want it, you have to act quickly, as stock will go fast. The Independent ITX21-5132 sell for $269.07.

Apple putting cameras in iPod touch, iPod nano?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Apple, Portable Audio / Video, Rumors,

It looks like cameras may be coming to the iPod touch and iPod nano lines, if these case designs are any indication. Manufacturers over in Asia are starting to leak case designs for the next refresh of the iPod line-up, which will happen in September more than likely. As you can see, the iPod touch case design includes a hole for a camera that would be at the top-center of the device, right next to the Wi-Fi antenna. On the iPod nano case, which you can see after the break, you’ve got a space for a camera on the top corner.
According to TechCrunch:
One of our sources in Asia say that Apple has placed an order for a massive number of camera modules of the type that they include in the iPhone. These are inexpensive cameras, in the $10 range. And the size of the order, our source says, means they can only be used for one thing - the iPods.
Could Apple be making a play to become to top mobile photo and video recording device manufacturer with the next refresh of the iPod? That just may be the case, and it would be a smart move. With the huge numbers that the iPhone and iPod lines sell, Apple would shoot to the top of services like YouTube and Flickr in terms of which device was used to shoot the media that is uploaded.
As an aside, last year, case designs were leaked that gave away the new form factor of the iPod nano, weeks before it was officially announced by Apple. We can still take this story with a grain of salt, but I think all signs point to “Yes” on this one.

Sonos CR200 controller to have touch-screen

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Design, Home Entertainment, Music,

After a month suspicion, the first image of the new Sonos CR200 controller has finally popped up. Sonos will be releasing a new portrait controller, which is said to include a touchscreen, which would include a QWERTY keyboard for searching for artists, albums, or song titles. As we’ve seen with the iPhone Sonos Controller app, the Sonos system and touch-screens go very nicely together. Let’s just hope the CR200 doesn’t cost $400 like the current Sonos Controller.
