Motorola ZINE ZN5 Camera Phone Available Today
Posted by Patrick Phelps Categories: Cameras, Cell Phones

Motorola‘s 5-megapixel ZN5 cameraphone arrived online and in select corporate T-Mobile stores this morning. Unlike most camera phone’s, the quad-band ZN5 takes high resolution photos using Kodak Imaging Technology – including autofocus, low-light optimization, and a real Xenon flash. Once you’ve snapped a picture, it can be instantly sent via MMS, WiFi or Bluetooth – or you can store it on 350MB of internal memory which is expandable up to 4GB via microSD.
With a price as low as $99 with a 2-year contract, we think this will be a popular new choice; however, the phone lacks support for T-Mobile’s new 3G network, opting instead for EDGE, which will certainly make some think twice before signing up.

Motorola MOTOAURA gets pictured and reviewed
Posted by Aaron Zollo Categories: Cell Phones, Design, Product Reviews
Not many people have the luxury of spending $2000 on a mobile phone. The MOTOAURA is a new luxury phone from Motorola which incorporates an 240x320-pixel display enclosed behind an A-grade 62-carat Sapphire lens, giving it expense and a scratch-proof cover. The enclosure is almost all metal except at the bottom where there is a small piece of plastic for the internal antenna. The back of the MOTOAURA has a watch-like quality in that it allows you to see the workings of its switchblade-style opening mechanism. The rest of the MOTOAURA is your normal cell phone, incorporating a keypad and screen. Mobile-Review has plenty of pictures, a full review and a video showing how scratch-resistive the screen is. It’s hard to see people spend this kind of money on such a simple device, but if you need that premium device that is out of reach for most of the population, then the MOTOAURA is just what you have been looking for.

Go Moto Danica!
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Cell Phones, Corporate News, Misc. Tech, Transportation, Wireless / WiFi

What do you do when Danica Patrick wins her first IndyCar race? If you are Motorola, you grab a huge pic of her with your insignia on her jumpsuit and offer free wallpaper. Then you build a site called MotoDanica and feature a whole slew of kewl products with her name on them. They include a Bluetooth Automotive System for switching from music to phone, a Bluetooth Headset, and MOTOKR Headphones. We think this surely beats being on a box of Wheaties.

Zoom Your iPhone
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Apple, Cameras, Cell Phones
It’s not like we never mention the iPhone around here, so we felt it only fitting to toss in an accessory for the gadget. The Motorola 6x optical zoom lens might be a possibility. This simple clear case clicks over the camera and its eye on your phone’s back. It might look a little weird but at $15.00, it’s worth a shot (pun intended.) The lens will work with many other models of cell phones as well. Let us know your results should you try one out.

We saw some fascinating cell phone innovations from Motorola at CES. First was the ROKR E8 phone, with its Modeshift technology. The phone doesn’t have keys. Instead, when turned on, “virtual” keys appear. When pressed you actually feel a vibration, confirming you‘ve pressed the button with a bit of tactile feedback. When you switch the mode to music player, all the cell phone keys vanish and a whole new set of buttons appear, specifically for the player.
Very impressive. Pricing and carriers are not yet available.

When talking to Motorola during CES, we liked the Moto Z10 cell phone, currently only available in Europe. Made specifically for the YouTube generation, the Z10 has a video camera that allows you to crop, add transitions, add a soundtrack and even credits. When done, you can immediately upload your masterpiece to YouTube or fave social networking site from the phone itself. Unfortunately, the Z1- is currently only available overseas.

CES 2008: MOTOROKR Wins Best Headphones
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Cell Phones, CES, CES 2008, Portable Audio / Video, Wireless / WiFi
Winner of the Best Innovation in Headphones went to the MOTOROKR S9. Okay, they look a little weird, but the Bluetooth 2.0 phones weigh only about an ounce with 13mm speakers. The S9 is compatible with most phones and iPods with optional adapter and one button switchability. If you get a call when you are digging your tunes, the music will pause. A charge will last you up to 6 hrs. of play time and the phones are sweat and water resistant for the necessary times when you have to make a mad dash for the bus. The MOTOROKR have been marked down to $129.99 with a free car charger if you order at the Motorola Store.

Motorola to Release Ferrari Phone
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Cell Phones, Corporate News, Transportation
Motorola has teamed with Ferrari to go “vroom.“ Even if you cannot afford the car, the company is offering a MOTO ZE Ferrari Limited Edition cell phone. In snazzy colors of red and black, the handset includes 2 video clips, wallpaper and ringtones, a pre-loaded (and outdated) “Bourne Identity,” and a pre-registration to the Ferrari website. In addition, it still has other ZE features such as an UIQ interface, a 2 megapixel cam, and a microSD card slot. Look for it in the next couple of months with a definite price.
