We’ve been waiting on this for a long, long time, and we are happy to share the news that Sonos has officially announced the Sonos Controller 200 CR200 remote. Why is this news to be excited about? Well, if you’re a Sonos owner (or a potential owner,) this means that you get a touchscreen Sonos remote, rather than the old-school click wheel version of the remote. Like the rest of the Sonos gear, this will work anywhere in the home, is meant to be a shared device that can be left in a common area, is more intuitive, turns on instantly when picked up, and has a nice capacitive VGA touchscreen. It even has a replaceable battery. The only thing that the old remote has that this new one doesn’t is that the new one isn’t water-resistant and splash proof. The Sonos CR200 goes on sale tomorrow, and will sell for $349, $50 less than the older model. Even better, the Sonos Controller 100 will be heavily discounted until they are sold out, so if you do want a splash-proof Sonos Controller that you can take to the hot tub, now’s your chance.

We’ve played with the new remote (video coming shortly!) and we can very easily recommend it - it makes finding music from the vast number of libraries and services that Sonos can connect to a breeze, because when you have that much music, a clickwheel just won’t measure up. Be sure to check out our Sonos Controller 200 gallery for a bunch of images of the new remote.

Split StickI don’t know about you, but I’m pretty dependent on my flash drives.  Except for the amount of storage they hold, most of them are pretty much the same.  The Split Stick is different because it is double-sided.

So the user gets 4GB of memory, but it is divided into two 2GB partitions, if you will.  That might be good if you want to differentiate your files, or if two people are sharing one stick.  The Split Stick is available for $19.99 in colors of orange, blue, pink, red, black, violet, grey, or green.

There is no question that most headphones are made the same, but Blinx comes with blue LED lights.  These lights are sound responsive, and will blink along with the music.

So even though no one but you is hearing the music, everyone else around you will see a somewhat impressive lightshow.  The Blinx work with any standard 3.5 headphones, and cost about $42.

Toshiba Digital Media Frames

Digital Picture Frames are very common these days, but Digital Media Frames are quite uncommon.  Toshiba announced three new types at Rockefeller Center today, as well as its partnership with FrameChannel.  Not only do these Wi-Fi connected frames offer personalized weather, traffic, sports, music and video, but a FrameChannel account gives users access to Flickr, Photobucket, and Facebook.

The 8-inch models are available in white (DMF82XWU) and black (DMF82XKU) for about $179.99.  The black 10-inch frame (DMF102XKU) is priced at $229.99.  All three frames should be available in August.
