Toshiba’s JournE touch multimedia tablet

Toshiba's JournE touch tablet

showed off their JournE touch multimedia tablet at , and it definitely looks interesting. This device is 14mm thick and weighs about a pound.  It only has 1GB worth of built-in storage, and comes with a SD slot for expansion.  As you can see, there is a lot of application icons, almost akin to a giant iPhone.  That’s about all we know for now, as it will be available in Q4.

You can check out a video after the jump.

Toshiba Digital Media Frames

Digital Picture Frames are very common these days, but Digital Media Frames are quite uncommon.  Toshiba announced three new types at Rockefeller Center today, as well as its partnership with FrameChannel.  Not only do these Wi-Fi connected frames offer personalized weather, traffic, sports, music and video, but a FrameChannel account gives users access to Flickr, Photobucket, and Facebook.

The 8-inch models are available in white (DMF82XWU) and black (DMF82XKU) for about $179.99.  The black 10-inch frame (DMF102XKU) is priced at $229.99.  All three frames should be available in August.

Laptop Experts: Restoring a notebook to factory defaults

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: PC / Laptop, Software

As I noted previously, I take part in the Laptop Experts website, along with a few other key experts in the technology field from ArsTechnica, Boing Boing, Ubergizmo, and others. We are totally into answering questions from everyday computer users. I wanted to highlight one that I answered this morning:

Question: I want to restore the factory settings on my TOSHIBA A305-S6872 to the out of the box settings. How can I do this?

Answer: The absolute easiest way to do this is to grab the installation discs that came with the notebook, pop them in, and go through the installation process. Make sure you select a new install (as opposed to a repair or upgrade.) Once that is done, you will also want to put in any other software or driver discs that came with the notebook as well, and then run Windows Update last to make sure it is completely up-to-date.

Feel free to chime in - your thoughts? Ever have this issue before?
