Marvel’s Wolverine Got Livestreamed Off a Retail Disc 10 Days Early

Ten days before Marvel's Wolverine goes on sale, someone was already playing it on a livestream. The copy running on his console was a retail PS5 disc, the same one that ships to everybody who preordered.

Across September 4 and 5, a streamer going by blackmisk1 ran Insomniac's game on Twitch, TikTok and Kick, claiming to be the first person to play it. He got a long way in before the takedowns caught up. Twitch removed the channel for copyright violation, and the mirrors on the other platforms came down the same way.

Plenty got out before the strikes landed. Viewers saw combat and gameplay systems in motion, along with sizable chunks of the story. Around the same stretch, all 32 of Logan's suits leaked, variations included. If you preordered and want to walk in cold on launch day, the next week and a half is a minefield.

The delivery driver theory is still just a theory

Chat decided quickly that blackmisk1 is a delivery driver who pulled a case off a truck, pointing to him having mentioned a commercial driver's license. That is speculation, and nobody has produced proof of it. Neither the platforms nor Sony has confirmed anything about who he is or where the disc came from, so treat the origin story as unverified.

The timing is the part you can verify. Retail copies of a September 15 game were in a private living room on September 4, which says something about how early finished discs start moving through distribution.

Sony and Insomniac have not commented publicly. The only response so far has come through copyright strikes, going out one channel at a time against a game three platforms were hosting at once.

Insomniac has been here before

In December 2023, a criminal cyberattack on the studio spilled employee data, plans for future games, and early Wolverine material, including a playable build. Insomniac addressed it at the time, said the game was in early production and would evolve, and asked people not to go looking for the build. That was unfinished work the studio could fairly say would change before launch. This one is the game as it ships.

Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15 on PS5 and PS5 Pro at $69.99. Between now and then, muting the game's name across your feeds is about the only protection you have.
