Lenovo Introduces ThinkPads With Fingerprint Recognition

In a report released in September, the Commerce Department admitted the loss of 1,137 laptops since 2001, most of which had been used by the Census Bureau. Lenovo already produces keyboards that utilize fingerprint-activated hard-drive encryption, and has now released its ThinkPad T60+ Series notebooks with that same recognition ability. The program utilizes Utimaco’s SafeGuard Easy software, which, according to Clain Anderson, Director of the company’s ThinkVantage technologies, has received certification from the U.S. government.
The notebooks are Microsoft Windows Vista capable with Intel Core 2 Duo processors and feature 11n MIMO (Multiple Input/Multiple Output) wireless technology. Thinkpads may be purchased online starting today with prices starting at $1,159.00 and will be available in retail stores in a few weeks.
