TH!NK CityKleiner Perkins and RockPort Capital have invested in the TH!NK City, an electric environmental vehicle, emission free and 95% recyclable. It reaches a top speed of 100 km (65 miles) per hour and can drive up to 180 km (110 miles) on a single charge. Made in Norway, the TH!NK City meets all European and U.S. Federal motor vehicle safety requirements. The car will start off in Scandinavia, Switzerland, and France, then expect to see the TH!NK here next year. Knowing that the Chevy Volt will not arrive at least until 2010, we applaud the efforts of the two companies to invest and help us save the planet.

Apple Notebook Event

has just announced that their next event will be taking place this coming Tuesday (read: five days from today), confirming rumors that October 14th would be the day that new notebooks would be unveiled. The company sent invitations to select media this morning, with a graphic of a notebook featuring the sub-heading “The spotlight turns to notebooks.” So, what should you expect to see? Well, if the rumor mill is correct, we’ll see updates across the board in the MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, including a new manufacturing process that sees the notebook casing carved out of a single block of aluminum. There are also rumblings of a true from Apple as well, possibly launching in the $800 range.

As always, take these rumors with a grain of salt - but as we’ve seen with recent and news, the latest Apple rumors have pretty much come to fruition.

Midori-san

We once witnessed a plant’s reaction with a lie detector to someone’s bending one of its leaves and were pretty impressed that the plant exhibited stress. But Midori-san, a Sweetheart Hoya, makes that look juvenile in comparison. Satoshi Kuribayashi of KAYAK has developed sophisticated technology that allows the house plant to blog on line. With surface potential sensors, it measures changes such as temperature, vibration, and nearby humans. An algorithm translates that data into Japanese sentences that make up the blog. You can monitor Midor-san and offer it a dose of light through its site, which seems to lose something with the translation.

Pacman DesignJ!NX is a very cool site with t-shirts for the geek who wants to be blunt. We especially dig this comment on Pacman in the form of a light blue tee that comes in 5 sizes for ~$20.00. If that one is too gory for you, check through their newest releases for both men and women for all things gaming and computer oriented. JINX frequently has deals on close-outs and discontinued shirts and stickers.
