Windows 7 officially named Windows 7
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Corporate News, Microsoft, PC / Laptop, Software,

So, you know that follow-up to Windows Vista that Microsoft has been working on for the past couple of years? They’ve been calling it Windows 7 for a while now, but we just thought that was going to be its codename. As it turns out, Microsoft just announced a few hours ago that Windows 7 is the official name of the next version of their operating system. Why not go with another cutesy name like Windows ME, XP, or Vista? Well, they say this is the seventh release of Windows, and that it “just makes sense.” Well, we guess it does. If you’ll be at WinHEC or PDC, you can plan on getting Windows 7 pre-beta code from Microsoft to play with.

Wal-Mart selling iPhone 3G during Black Friday?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Handhelds, Rumors,

You know, as much as we aren’t fan of Wal-Mart, we understand that it helps get products out to the masses. The latest rumor has Wal-Mart selling the iPhone 3G during the lead-up to this years Black Friday. This would make Wal-Mart the second big box retailer in the US to carry the iPhone, with the first being Best Buy. As is the policy with Best Buy, AT&T, and the Apple Store, we’d expect that you would have to activate the iPhone at Wal-mart.
If this rumor proves true, we expect a lot more iPhone 3Gs to be sold this holiday, and by that, we mean even more than the enormous amount that we had already predicted. Hey, AT&T, would you mind beefing up your 3G access a bit more? It’s gonna get crowded.

For clean freaks and those whose hands are gooey no matter how many times they wash up, the Automatic Bin is 100% hands-free operation. Its lid almost instantaneously opens when it senses trash. Made of stainless steel, it holds 50 liters (~13 gals.,) and runs on 4 D-sized batteries or included AC adapter. The bin also has manual over-ride capability and an ABS removable top for simple washing. Cleanliness is yours for £79.99 ($157.84.) We wonder if it will automatically open if it knows that we are just tossing wadded up paper towels towards it.
