I’ve been reading comics on and off for almost 25 years. I began as a “Marvel Zombie.” For those not familiar with that term, it means that I only read Marvel comics. That however all changed in 1989 with the release of the first Tim Burton “Batman” movie and then decided to start reading Batman, the comic book. The first issue I picked up was Batman #433. That was part one of John Byrne’s “The Many Deaths of Batman.” This was a “silent issue” meaning no dialogue or captions were printed to help tell the story - only pictures. I do believe Gordon said one word, but overall it was silent issue and I was hooked.
As time passed, I began reading other DC titles. I loved the “Death of Superman” storyline and Mark Waid made me love Wally West and the Flash. Then came James Robinson’s Starman. That book is the bible to me. I love that book so much, I got a tattoo of the Starman symbol on my left shoulder. I stopped reading comics for a while, but I found my way back and I’ve been reading comics again for about six or seven years now - mostly DC books, by the way.
And one of those books is Booster Gold.

If you are a subscriber of Bloglines, you may have noticed the frequency of red exclamation marks and error messages. This is what is known as a broken system. They are no longer updating some of the feeds. We understand that they have received numerous complaints and whining, but our solution is to switch to another RSS reader, a simple enough process. Click “Export” on the bottom left, save the opml file and import it to the reader of your choice. In an Internet that has so many choices, we are allowed to say, “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.”
Update: It would appear that all that whining helped. Many of the feeds are updating again, however we are going to keep our backup feed all the same.

Paralyzed Monkey Relearns Movement
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: PC / Laptop, Science, Video Games,

Researchers at the University of Washington have successfully tested a simple approach to help those who are paralyzed. Their method is to use a direct connection between nerve cells and muscles to reteach the brain. The brain-machine interface was used to teach monkeys with wrist paralysis to play a video game. While most scientists were trying to train them to make movements, the team used a biofeedback meter and applesauce (as reward) to change their brain activity.

Aegis Mobility DriveAssist System Intercepts Calls
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Transportation,
The Canadian company Aegis Mobility has teamed with Nationwide Insurance to create technology that will add to transportation safety. The DriveAssist System automatically intercepts call and text messages when the vehicle is moving. With satellite navigation technology, it will tell the callers where the driver is located and presents them with auto-call back request and priority notification. Other features include allowing 911 calls and an override feature for passengers. Aegis’ service is available by subscription through mobile service providers. We figure that the DriveAssist is like MyKey, more for parents than adults who continue to drive and speak.
