Big news coming out of Sandisk Headquarters today with three new announcements:

Sandisk MSPD 4GB1) SanDisk Announces 4-Gigabyte Memory Stick Pro Duo Cards For Digital Photographers: - This is great news for both pro and pro-am photographers.  We can never have enough memory and this little gem is going to provide plenty of room for those RAW images.  As far as we can tell this card should also work on the Sony PSP.  We are getting ever-so-close to that PSP being really functional with hard drive sized capacities approaching rapidly.

The Ultra II cards are primarily targeted to advanced digital photographers with high-resolution digital cameras that require fast, large-capacity digital film cards to quickly shoot many high resolution images. Each SanDisk Ultra II card features a minimum write speed of 9 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) and a minimum read speed of 10MB/sec. These fast write speeds are designed to take advantage of advanced digital camera features such as rapid fire, continuous-shooting modes or to capture digital video clips.

Sandisk 2GB SD Card2) SanDisk Doubles Capacity of Innovative USB-Flash Memory Combo Card: Here’s one for you mobloggers and camera phone freaks.  Now you can get a tasty 2GB SD card for that Treo 650 of yours.  This is one killer SD card.  With the ability to fold in half and be inserted into any standard USB slot, we give this SD card mad props and high marks on the “gotta have it” scale.

The SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus line features write speeds of 9 megabytes (MB) per second and read speeds of 10MB/sec. The cards are targeted at enthusiast and prosumer-level digital photographers with 5 mega-pixel or higher resolution digital cameras that require significantly faster flash memory film cards. The faster cards allow photographers to shoot images in rapid sequence and minimize the lag time between shots.

Sandisk 8GB CF Card3) SanDisk Doubles Capacity Of Its SanDisk Extreme III Cards: Its Fastest Digital Film Cards For Professional Photographers - Rounding out the triple whammy is the killer announcement of them all.  Doubling the previous 4GB capacity, Sandisk has introduced one wicked fast 8GB CF card that will be making it’s way into every professional photographers gear bag that I know.  This one is a killer folks.

SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash and SD cards have minimum write and read speeds of 20 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) Memory Stick PRO Duo cards have minimum write and read speeds of 18 MB/sec. 2 The SanDisk Extreme III cards, which range in capacity between 1- and 8GB are among the world’s fastest working cards in many of today’s leading digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras.

Not a bad day for Sandisk if we do say so ourselves.  Now off we go to find that fourth job so we can pay for all this new memory our digital habbits are requiring these days.

Super Princess PeachIf you have been looking for some old-school Nintendo side-scrolling action, you may want to check out Super Princess Peach, which launched today. This is the game that takes Peach, and puts her in the role of heroine for the first time since Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES. In Super Princess Peach, the Princess uses her emotions to fight her enemies. When she is happy, she floats. If she gets mad, she becomes a flaming torch of lady-anger. Even her sad tears can be used to her advantage. The mood swings come as a result of her usual rescuers, Mario and Luigi, ending up inthe clutches of the baddies this time around. We like the graphics style of this one, and knocking Bowser upside the head with a parasol shouldl serve as a nice way to tide yourself over until the New Super Mario Brothers drops on the DS.

TextPayMeWow, is this service long overdue or what? TextPayMe is a PayPal-like service that allows you to send and receive money by simply using SMS over your mobile device. Even better, they are currently giving anyone who signs up a free $5.00 deposit into their TextPayMe account. Here are a few of the suggestions they offer for using the service:

  • Split restaurant bills on the spot
  • Settle your roommate’s rent and utility bill from wherever
  • Pitch in real money for a split gift rather than an IOU

We will definitely be giving this one a spin. Having the ability to do this from wherever you are using your mobile phone works a lot better than having to sign in to Paypal from where we stand. If you sign up soon, you can qualify to be in the running to win a free Xbox 360. An Xbox 360, plus an additional five bucks for free? What’s not to like?

Mactel FirefoxRemember that G5-optimized Firefox build we told you about a couple of months ago? We have received emails here and there since Stevie-J announced the Intel powered Macs, asking if there might be an updated version specifically optimized for the Intel Macs. We are happy to say that the wait is over. The guys over at BeatnikPad have released the Intel version of DeerPark (what they call their Firefox builds), and it is damn fast. Head on over to their site to grab the download.

Zenview

Maybe you play a lot of flight sims, or do CAD or graphic design work - but regardless of the reason, sometimes those monster 24-inch and 30-inch LCD monitors that Dell, Apple and others offer just aren’t enough.  Digital Tiger has heard your plea and they have introduced the Zenview Command Center Elite.  The Zenview offers up six Samsung 24-inch LCD panels for a total resolution of 5760x2400.  DVI inputs are offered (and are the ideal connection), but if you’ve spent all your money on this monitor and have nothing left for a semi-decent video card, then analog inputs are also available.  With a 6ms (gray to gray) response time, ghosting and streaking on the Zenview should be negligible.  Want to watch a

little

lot of television?  Then you’re in luck as the Zenview also comes equipped with TV inputs (composite, s-video & component).

Sure, the Zenview isn’t the only multi-monitor solution around, but it’s one of the nicest we’ve seen with it’s 24-inch panels.  The price on the other hand, isn’t quite so nice coming in at $11,999 USD.

USB Oil BurnerOk, now this comes from the land of strange USB gadgetry, but this could actually be somewhat uselful.  If you happen to work among some stanky peeps, or in a less-than-pleasant aromatic environment, this gadget is definitely for you.  This little device has a 4cm hot tray where you can add your favorite oil-based scent.  The aroma is supposedly spread evenly and comes with a convenient On/Off switch, with an LED indicator light.  Additional features are a fire-free design with a see-through safety cover.  Pretty nifty indeed.  This little flatulance fighter retails for a mere $19 USD.

iPod Video Device

Not surprisingly, the widescreen iPod video device has quickly been debunked as a fake. We know the screen color and orientation look a bit off, and a video has been released showing how it was all done. Now, don’t get all glum - word is strong that Steve Jobs will be debuting a true video iPod this Tuesday - just not the one pictured above. Click on to check out the video showing how the above image was crafted.

(Thanks Yashar!)

3D-Seek3D-Seek is a new search engine from Imaginestics that enables industrial customers to quickly and easily search parts catalogs based on sketches, CAD drawings, or existing online drawings.  Essentially the electronic equivalent of doodling on a napkin, the online sketchpad allows you to draw a rough equivalent of what you are looking for and pattern recognition technology does the rest.  What would once take hours of searching through catalogs and speaking with parts vendors trying to describe what you’re looking for, now only takes seconds.  Of course, if you can’t draw much more than your average stick figure, uploading a CAD drawing of your search criteria is always an option.  With around 6,000 items in the current index, new items are being added on a regular basis by vendors and the search portal’s web crawlers.  Once this kind of technology is firmly established, we can see the potential for it moving into areas that can benefit the average consumer as well.

Plasma Fireplace

There are those that like to show off their home theater gear, and others who prefer a more discrete approach.  For the latter group comes a plasma television cabinet that also happens to be a fireplace.  Similar to other motorized display cabinets, the plasma screen is situated on a lift that raises and lowers it on command.  Sadly, the included fireplace isn’t really a fireplace by the true definition of the word.  Actually, its called a flame effect fire that has no real flame, but does contain an electric convection heater that churns out 2kW (approx. 6800 BTUs) of heat.  (So much for roasting chestnuts over an open fire.)

A variety of styles are offered and prices range from approximately $3,700 to $9,100 USD.  Ouch.
