Rolling Stones Play First Gig Since L’Wren’s Death
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Performances, Rock,
The Rolling Stones have played their first gig since the death of Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott.
The "Brown Sugar" hitmakers, also made up of Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, resumed their 14 On Fire Tour after giving Mick time to grieve following fashion designer L'Wren's suicide two months ago. They took to the stage in Norway Monday night playing in front of 23,000 people at Oslo's Telenor Arena, the band's first show in the country since 2007.
Speaking before the gig, former Stones member Mick Taylor told The Sun, "We're all looking forward to it but we're a bit nervous. Mainly nervous for Mick," adding, "We need to get the wheels turning again."
But the legendary rockers had nothing to worry as the crowd went wild when Mick launched into "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and the band powered through hits including "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll," "Honky Tonk Woman," "Paint It Black," "Midnight Rambler," "Miss You" and "Gimme Shelter."

Rolling Stones Postpone Australia Shows
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Rock,
Due to the apparent suicide of Mick Jagger's longtime partner L'Wren Scott, The Rolling Stones have canceled the remainder of their concerts Down Under until further notice.
"The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott... Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement," show promoters stated yesterday.
There is no word yet as to when the band intends to honor the postponed shows, but the notice advised fans to hold onto their tickets: "Information will be made available via rollingstones.com and frontiertouring.com as soon as available."
Jagger had been dating Scott - who was a former model and fashion designer with her own eponymous label - since 2001.

Mick Jagger Wants to Tour with Rolling Stones Again

Mick Jagger wants to tour with the Rolling Stones again next year.
The 70-year-old singer says the group's gigs at Glastonbury in June and London's Hyde Park in July were "perfect" and a "great ending" to their tour of Europe and North America, marking the band's 50th anniversary, and he was so "blown away" by the performances he wants to hit the road again.
"This summer was really good for us. I feel really happy and I had a really fantastic time in the last year. It was a great ending at Glastonbury and Hyde Park. We were blown away. I'd love to do it again," he said.
Mick's bandmate Keith Richards - who completes the group alongside Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - recently said the "Brown Sugar" hitmakers were keen to do a 60th anniversary tour as well: "I've been hooked on everything once or twice in my life. The one thing I can't kick is playing with the Rolling Stones. All these zeros that keep zooming by ... 30, 40, 50 years. I don't really see any reason why there shouldn't be a 60th. Either that or we croak [die] on the job."

Mumford and Sons: Glastonbury Is a Risk
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Performances, Folk, Rock,
Mumford and Sons aren't sure they can compete with The Rolling Stones at Glastonbury and admit the festival appearance is a big "risk."
The "I Will Wait" band see headlining the world renowned event as the biggest "gamble" they've ever taken, and aren't sure if they can live up to the legacy of their co-headliners - who have been touring for 50 years.
"It's a really huge deal to headline Glastonbury; we're a young band with only two records behind us. This summer is probably the biggest risk we've ever taken," frontman Marcus Mumford said.
Banjo player Winston Marshall added, "I've seen The Stones play for three hours and the crowd knew every song. It's what you want in a headline slot at a festival. I'm scared because it feels like a gamble. We don't know if we've earned it yet or not."
Bass player Ted Dwayne also admits he's getting nervous in the run up to their closing festival slot on Sunday June 30: "The other night was the first time I visualized the [main] Pyramid Stage in my head. I hadn't made that connection before, and it actually real, it's really, really scary."

Rolling Stones Discussing Possible New Album
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Rumors, Rock,

Keith Richards will be meeting with Mick Jagger soon to discuss a new Rolling Stones album.
The guitarist has revealed the band - also consisting of guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts - are on the verge of reconvening to record a new LP, as long as singer Mick gives it the green light.
“I don’t know, I’m going to hopefully find out soon. I’m going to be seeing Mick next week or something, so I’m going to try and screw some information out of him,” Richards said about the group’s possible plans.
“You’ve got to have everybody want to do it, so I usually wait for a call from Mick saying, ‘Let’s make something, let’s do something,’ because without his actual ‘want to do it’, then there’s not much point. But I’m always working, I’ve got ideas for stuff, but I haven’t put them together yet with Mick,” he added.

Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” has been voted as having the best guitar riff of all time.
The 1970 track beat Guns N’ Roses classic “Sweet Child O’Mine” - which topped the poll five years ago - to the top spot in the poll by website MusicRadar.com, with “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin coming third.
Just two songs from the past decade made the list; Muse’s 2001 hit “Plug In Baby” came in at #11 while The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army,” which was released in 2003, landed at #15.

The “Umbrella” singer has been asked to sing at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to help revelers ring in 2010 in what will be her first performance in the Middle East. Rihanna had been due to perform in Dubai earlier this year, which would have been her first show since she was attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February.
“She was supposed to perform back in May but she canceled in the aftermath of the assault. This is a make-up date,” a source told the New York Post.
