Tommy Lee Bans SeaWorld From Using Songs

Tommy LeeTommy Lee has banned SeaWorld from using Motley Crue's music.

The drummer was enraged when he heard the aquatic theme park wanted to use rock music for new killer whale display show "Shamu Rocks," as he believes it is cruel to make the giant sea mammals perform for entertainment.

In a letter to John T. Reilly, president of the theme park's San Diego location, he wrote, "I'm writing to ask you not to play any Motley Crue's songs at any of SeaWorld's parks during this sad show. Although we like to torture the human fans who willingly come to our shows, we don't want to be a part of making innocent animals' lives hellish."

This is not the first time Tommy - an active member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - has been upset about the treatment of whales by SeaWorld. In 2010, he wrote to the Orlando, Florida, branch of the park, to complain about the way they got whale sperm from one of their Orca whales, Tilikum. "'We know from SeaWorld's own director of safety (as well as videos on the web) that the way you get his sperm is by having someone get into the pool and masturbate him with a cow's vagina filled with hot water. Even in my wildest days with Motley Crue, I never could've imagined something so sick and twisted," he wrote.

Vince Neil Arrested for DUI

Vince Neil mug shotMusician Vince Neil is finally home sweet home after spending some time overnight in a Nevada jail.

According to police, the singer was arrested at approximately 11:15 Sunday evening for suspicion of DUI. A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Police Department said Vince’s black Lamborghini was pulled over following some sort of accident.

The 49-year-old, who lives in the Las Vegas area, was later let go on $2000 bail. He is expected to appear in court on September 29.

Although it’s not believed there were any injuries related to last night’s detainment, Vince does have a history of drunken driving. Back in 1984, passenger Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley was killed after Neil struck another vehicle head-on.

Vince, who had a BAC of .17 at the time of the crash, later served less than a month in jail and performed 200 hours of community service. He also paid $2.5 million in restitution to the victims and their families.

Hand Injury Sidelines Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee

Tommy LeeKids - this is why you shouldn’t handle fireworks.

A mishap with sparklers - yes, sparklers - will keep from performing in several concerts with his crew. The Motley Crue drummer suffered a burn to his left hand last week conveniently during the band’s Crue Fest 2 tour.

Thanks to bandages on Lee’s left thumb and forefinger, Sevendust’s Morgan Rose - who “came charging in like a knight in shining armor” according to Nikki Sixx - has been asked to fill in. His first performance was last Friday in Cincinnati.

“We all wanna say we’re sorry Tommy has to sit out a couple shows, but we hope to have him back up on the drums ASAP ... I think Morgan needs a standing ovation for his dedication to kicking ass and helping not only Mötley Crüe out, but the road crew and everybody else out here whose lives would (have) been [affected] ... As for now, Mötley Crüe is a five-piece band — making history, one injury at a time,” Sixx wrote on his MySpace page.

No word at this time when Lee will be able to resume playing. The tour wraps up on September 2nd.
