The Killers Embarrassed by Greatest Hits Album
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Alternative, Rock, New Releases,
The Killers don't feel ready to put out a greatest hits album.
The "Mr. Brightside" rockers are about to release their Direct Hits compilation but feel they should have waited another decade to amass a bigger catalogue of hits.
"We'd wait another 10 years if it was up to us, but it's a contractual thing. We can fill a CD so it makes good business sense at this time of year. However, it's not like we're so pleased with ourselves we want to put it out. It feels like a douchie move," drummer Ronnie Vannucci said.
The "Human" hitmakers insist they are just taking a break from music and have no plans to end their career just yet. "I'm looking forward to coming back when we're ready. It's a very strange existence, a huge juggling act to navigate this rock 'n' roll life. The perception of us is what it is - people know what's up. Bands don't usually make it this long - if you get past 10 years, you're bionic. It's not like everything we touch turns to f**king gold," Ronnie added.

Kelly Clarkson Is “Nowhere Near” Retirement
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Pop, New Releases,
Kelly Clarkson is "nowhere near" retirement.
The "Miss Independent" hitmaker has just released her Greatest Hits Chapter One album to commemorate 10 years in the music industry since becoming the first winner of American Idol in 2002, but she is struggling to get her head around reaching such a milestone.
"I'm 30 but the label said, 'Let's do a greatest hits.' Each record is a chapter of your life and I will only retire when it stops being fun. But right now I'm nowhere near," she said.
The track Kelly is most proud of on the album is her "baby" of a song "Because Of You," released in 2004, as it brings back memories of her as a young songwriter: "'Because Of You' was my baby because I wrote it when I was a kid, then it went to number one worldwide, which meant a lot as a singer and a writer."

Madonna to Release Another Greatest Hits Compilation
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Upcoming Releases, Pop,
Madonna may be 50, but she still has a lot to offer.
Eight years after releasing GHV2, the Queen of Pop is preparing to do it all over once again. Later this year, Madonna will release her third Best Of compilation. (The Immaculate Collection, released in 1990, was her first.) “We’re hoping to have a greatest hits package come out in September,” her rep stated.
The track list for the upcoming CD may be decided in part by fan suggestions. Earlier this week, Guy Oseary (Madonna’s manager) solicited comments via Twitter: “Working on Madonna’s greatest hits album.. any tracks that you think MUST be on?”
Oldies but goodies won’t be the only things included on the disc. Madonna plans on recording a few songs for the compilation as well.

Bruce Springsteen Gearing Up for a Busy Winter
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Upcoming Releases, Rock,
Springsteen fans will be celebrating a belated Christmas in early 2009. In addition to a high-profile concert in February, the legendary musician will have two new albums in stores next month.
On January 13, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band will be offering up a Greatest Hits edition. The disc - which will be exclusively sold in Wal-Mart stores - will focus solely on songs Bruce recorded with the band. (You can see a track listing after the jump.) Two weeks later on January 27th, Working on a Dream will then make its debut. The album will consist of entirely new songs produced by four-time collaborator Brendan O’Brien.
Both releases will lead up to Springsteen’s primetime appearance during Super Bowl XLIII’s halftime show. The game will be held in Tampa, FL on Feb. 1.
