Cliffhanger: The 1993 action thriller is the latest Sylvester Stallone project to get a new life. The only difference is that Sly won’t be in this production. In the Renny Harlin-directed version, a mountain rescue worker is forced to help criminals retrieve money stolen from a U.S. Treasure plane. The reboot will reportedly involve a group of climbers and multiple locations. Shooting is expected to begin sometime next year.

Frost/Nixon Star Joins Cast of New Moon
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Adaptation, Adventure, Drama, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News,
British actor Michael Sheen will be taking a brief break from political dramas for a theme he’s become familiar with: vampires.
Although his name has become more familiar due to high-profile roles in Frost/Nixon and 2006’s The Queen (he played Prime Minister Tony Blair), Sheen will be heading back into more commercial fare. The 40-year-old is now the latest addition to The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Sheen, a veteran of the Underworld films, has been cast to play Aro, the leader of the Volturi, the clan of Italian vampires. (Dakota Fanning has already been chosen to play Jane, a member of that same group.)
Director Chris Weitz stressed the importance of Michael’s role to the Daily Mail. “Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat,” he explained.
New Moon is scheduled for a November 20 release.

90210 Bad Girl to Become Twilight Bloodsucker?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Adventure, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
90210’s AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi) may be leaving the Beverly Hills sunlight for the shadowy world of Twilight - but only briefly.
According to gossip, McCord could snag the part of Heidi in the upcoming sequel New Moon. In the book, Heidi is a beautiful girl who acts as bait to bring humans to the hungry vampires. Rumor has it that the part is small, but AnnaLynne could make a big splash in the franchise.

Dakota Fanning Rumored for New Moon Role

UPDATE: Dakota acknowledges that she is in discussions for the role.
Now that the Vanessa Hudgens rumor has been debunked, we’re moving on to an actress with a bit more film cred.
If the E! Online report is true, Dakota Fanning may be joining the cast of the Twilight sequel. According to sources, the Man on Fire star has been offered a role without even having to audition.
If negotiations go well, the 14-year-old will play Jane, a member of the Volturi vampires. While it may be hard to imagine Fanning as a bloodsucker, the character has been described as a petite blonde with a childlike voice and “Botticelli angel-like face.”
Production on New Moon is scheduled to begin in March.

Sink Your Teeth Into a Clip from Twilight
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:
We are now at T-minus 15 days until the premiere of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight.
If you’ve already finished the book, watched the trailer and pored over every picture of Robert Pattinson you could find—here’s a little something to help tide you over for a few more weeks.
Twilight flies into theaters on November 21. (As if you didn’t know.)
Get Sucked Into the New Twilight Trailer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Thrillers, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
Since I still have the unopened book sitting next to my bed, I have not yet been immersed into the world of Twilight. But those who have read the Stephenie Meyer novel talk about it as fondly as I once did about The Lost Boys. Now that I’ve finally gotten around to seeing the trailer, I realize I better start studying up on the Bella/Edward drama soon.
What do the rest of you think? Does this clip live up to your expectations?
Twilight - starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - opens in theaters on November 21.
Twilight Adjusts Start Date
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Thrillers, Upcoming Releases,
If Harry Potter’s calendar shift has you wondering what you’ll be doing on November 21, you’re in luck. Another film adaptation is more than happy to occupy that vacated spot.
Twilight, based on the Stephenie Meyer novel, was originally scheduled to open on December 12. Now, the teen vampire movie will premiere three weeks earlier, giving me less time to stare at the unopened book on my nightstand. This announcement immediately followed Warner Bros.’ decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to next summer.
According to Summit Entertainment’s CEO, the studio (supposedly) doesn’t expect to generate the same amount of interest as that teen wizard. “We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible Potter franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer’s incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective,” said Rob Friedman.
Well, it’s probably smart of Summit’s execs not to set their expectations too high. November 21 is also the new date for Bolt, an animated movie starring teen sensation Miley Cyrus.

Trailer for Lost Boys 2
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Drama, Horror, Sequels, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
UPDATE: I stand corrected. It turns out Corey Haim will be in the film after all, though his role is being left vague. For all we know, he could be a corpse.
Here it is - the moment you’ve all been waiting for: The release of the Lost Boys 2 trailer.
The sequel not only comes out 21 years after the original, the movie is also set “in another seaside town” 21 years later. Weirdly enough, Corey Feldman - who reprises his Edgar Frog character - looks exactly the same. (His brother in the 1987 version, Jamison Newlander, also returns as Alan Frog.)
Although it was once believed that Corey Haim would be starring as well, he is not in this very unnecessary sequel. (Let’s just say the guy has ‘issues’.)
And in case you wondering why the girl in the clip looks so familiar, that’s Autumn Reeser (a.k.a. Taylor Townsend from The O.C.).
