Michael Bay Confirms Ninja Turtles Title

Michael BayMichael Bay has confirmed the forthcoming film version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will simply be called Ninja Turtles.

The director - who is producing the forthcoming film for Jonathan Liebesman - has admitted the name will be changed but said the lead characters would continue to be the same as how people know them.

"Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in this movie. The script is being developed by two very smart writers; with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE'S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.(sic)" he wrote on his official site.

It is not the first time Michael has had to take to the internet to calm claims about the movie - he asked fans to "take a breath" after uproar at the suggestion the Turtles; Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael, would be members of an alien race.

Emma Stone Worried About Spider-Man Fans

Emma Stone as Gwen StacyEmma Stone is concerned fans won't be satisfied with her performance in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The 23-year-old actress portrays the role of Gwen Stacy in the movie - opposite Andrew Garfield as the titular character - and she admits not everyone is going to be pleased with how she has represented the character.

"This is 50 years worth of comic book material. There are different incarnations of Gwen, and I realized that you can't please everybody. They're hoping that you can bring this character to life, in the best way that you know how. I hope that people are satisfied. I know that not everybody will be, and that's one of those trials of being human, when you learn that not everybody can like you. It is a tough lesson, isn't it?"

Despite her worries, director Marc Webb admits it was an easy decision to cast Emma - who is best known for roles in Easy A and The Help: "When we did a screen test, what was great was that Emma brought a level of humor and levity that Andrew really responded to, and there was this immediate sense of lightness in the interaction."

Michael Bay Tells Ninja Turtles Fans to ‘Chill’

Michael Bay

Michael Bay has called for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans to "chill."

The filmmaker caused outrage when he recently claimed that the reboot of the project which he will be producing will show the main characters Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael as members of an "alien race," but after vocal opposition from fans he has tried to allay the public's fears.

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world. Michael," he wrote on the forum of his site.

Gael Garcia Bernal to Play Zorro

Gael Garcia BernalGael Garcia Bernal is to play Zorro in a new re-imagining of the franchise.

The Motorcycle Diaries actor will play the Spanish swordsman as a masked vigilante on the hunt for revenge in Zorro Reborn, which is described as having Western themes and a "futuristic reboot" of the story. Unlike previous movies, it will not be set in California or Mexico, but a ruined "world of tomorrow."

Studio 20th Century Fox are still seeking a director for the project, which has been written by Glenn Gers, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy.

The character of Zorro was last seen in The Legend of Zorro in 2005 - the second time Antonio Banderas portrayed the secret swashbuckler. Sony, who released The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro, are currently working on their own film about the character. They are developing an origin story based on Isabel Allende's 2005 novel Zorro.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes Sequel Already Planned

Rise of Planet of the ApesRise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is already planning a sequel.

The movie - starring James Franco as San Francisco scientist Will Rodman and Frieda Pinto as primatologist Caroline Aranha - performed strongly on its US release last weekend, and Rupert believes the possibilities for a new film are endless.

"There's so much we could do. The ideas I've had are all sorts of things, ranging from Full Metal Jacket with apes, you could start this story again eight years from where we left off, the next generation of apes, those that have come from our protagonists, perhaps going in to a conflict with humans and showing real fear, in the same way as going into war for young soldiers in this day and age, telling their story."

Rupert believes the interactions between apes and humans is a fascinating story and is keen to explore this more in any future sequels: "Or we could look at how apes are taking over cities, and being moved into human environments and having to interact with them and deal with things that are part of our culture and understand and evolve through them. Spies that are in the employ of the apes, working against humans and humans maybe existing underground, because that's a way they can avoid the virus, coming up above ground wearing gas masks, and maybe that's what dehumanizes them."
