Scientist Names Ancient Creature After Johnny Depp
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Classics, Horror, Romance, Celeb News,
While Johnny Depp has already become immortalized in the films he has made throughout his career, the Transcendence actor will now always be remembered by the scientific community as the inspiration for naming a recently discovered ancient animal.
Working on his PhD at Imperial College London, David Legg carried out research concerning a 505 million year old fossil of a creature that he dubbed Kooteninchela deppi, after Depp's character in the classic Tim Burton film, Edward Scissorhands. Legg, admittedly a fan of the 49 year old star explained his thought process in naming the fossil (see what it looks like after the jump):
“When I first saw the pair of isolated claws in the fossil records of this species I could not help but think of Edward Scissorhands. Even the genus name, Kootenichela, includes the reference to this film as ‘chela’ is Latin for claws or scissors. In truth, I am also a bit of a Depp fan and so what better way to honor the man than to immortalize him as an ancient creature that once roamed the sea?”

Kristen Stewart Saved from Twilight Madness by Small Movies
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Science Fiction, Sequels, Casting, Celebrity Gossip,
Kristen Stewart would have "turned mad" if she hadn't been able to work on other projects. The 22-year-old actress admits portraying Bella Swan in the five Twilight Saga movies has taken a lot of "patience," so she was glad to have been able to shoot smaller films in between working on the vampire blockbusters.
"I lived in the Twilight world for about four years - that's a very long time that demands a lot of patience on your part. Thank God, I had the opportunity to do smaller movies like The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys, and On the Road in between. Otherwise I'd probably have turned mad," she said.
Kristen - who recently admitted to cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders - also insisted she doesn't get upset by the "circus" that surrounds her personal life as a result of her fame from the Twilight Saga because the films mean so much to her:

Fans Criticize Tyler Perry For Casting Kim Kardashian
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy, Filmmaking, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
Kim Kardashian's inclusion in new movie The Marriage Counselor has been slammed by film fans.
The reality TV star - who recently filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage - starts filming her role in Tyler Perry's new movie today, but it has proved to be unpopular decision, with his fans taking to his website to air their displeasure.
"I am a huge fan and I've seen everything Tyler Perry. Have to say I don't understand the reason for casting KK in your upcoming film. Personally, I am sick to death of her being glorified for nothing more than having sex on camera. She doesn't need the money and she certainly doesn't need any more attention. And, although I still support you, I won't be contributing one dime to anything with K. Kardashian in it.(sic)," one fan wrote.

Quote of the Day: Megan Fox is a Lord of the Rings Nerd
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: New Line, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Classics, Drama, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,

“I’m a Lord of the Rings fan. And I’ll go on the forums. And they’ll complain that Frodo is eating the Lembas bread outside of Mordor instead of in the Mines of Moria. And they get really mad. You cannot focus completely on pleasing them because you’ll never win. They’ll never be happy no matter what you do… Peter Jackson and company won like 30 something Oscars for those movies.”

Amy Adams Disappoints Enchanted Fans
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Disney, Adventure, Family, Romance, Comedy, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,
Leap Year star Amy Adams tries to detach herself from her character in Enchanted.
The 35-year-old actress, who played fairytale character Giselle in the film, says parents often try to get her to speak to their children, who end up disappointed.
“Most of the time it’s the parents who recognize me. They try to tell their kids, ‘Look, it’s Giselle,’ and I say, ‘No, no, no, don’t ruin this for them,’ because I’m usually standing there with my hair sideways and no make-up on. And the kid is saying, ‘That is not Giselle. No way. That is some worn-out girl who really needs a bath.’”
Amy also claimed that the actress that plays Giselle in Disneyland is better than her: “She is creepy good. I met her at the première and said, ‘Wow, you’re better at being me than I am.’”
Discussing her movie career, she added that she tries to learn about a character when she gets a role but often changes her outlook when filming. She told the Daily Telegraph, “I research every part thoroughly. I talk it out with my actor friends, but then I throw it all away when I get to the set. You have to be spontaneous.”
Blind Side Eclipses New Moon on Thanksgiving

Despite predicted dominance at the box office this Thanksgiving weekend, Twi-hards seemed to be too busy stuffing their faces with food to keep up with movie-goers set to see Sandra Bullock‘s football drama The Blind Side.
Raking in $9.5 million, The Blind Side rushed ahead (barely) of New Moon, which received $9.2 million—raising its cumulative total to $188.4 million.
Will this keep up the rest of the holiday weekend? While I certainly do not possess Alice Cullen’s psychic abilities, I’ve surmised ten reasons as to why the latest installment of The Twilight Saga could be losing its box office grip.

What do you do when you’re George Clooney, and a gay fan strips and asks you for sex?
The 48-year-old actor, who is widely considered one of Hollywood’s sexiest actors, was promoting new movie The Men Who Stare at Goats when the infatuated admirer declared his feelings. The unidentified male stood up in the press conference and said, “I am gay, George, and I think I am in love with you… Please take me.”

Pineapple Express Meets Disinterest at Comic-Con
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Columbia Pictures, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Box Office, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
While it never appears to be a good sign when at least a third of an audience leaves prior to one’s panel at Comic-Con, I am definitely rooting for Pineapple Express when it hits theaters in a couple weeks!
As depressing as that can be for anyone at such a hyped event, I would venture to say that Judd Apatow‘s latest project failed to meet success at the event due to misplacement. I mean, promoting a stoner movie to die-hard comic book fans? These are audiences who went crazy last year over The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk, and this year with Watchmen—not exactly the type whose favorite movies include Dazed and Confused or Dude, Where’s My Car?.
