VIDEO: Zachary Quinto Unsure of Star Trek 2 Start Date

Sorry Trekkies. Although we were previously lead to believe that filming on the Star Trek sequel would begin early next year, that apparently is not true. According to one of the main actors, a start date has not yet been determined.

“We have a while until we’re gonna do another one. It probably won’t be until next year at this time,” told MTV at Comic-Con. “I know there’s erroneous reports that we’re going back in January. Not true, as far as I know.”

But Zachary, who played Spock in the hit 2009 entry, isn’t exactly worried the process will drag out like The Hobbit series. He has total confidence in those involved.

“I have a lot of trust and gratitude and respect for J.J. [Abrams] and for Damon Lindelof and for Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Those guys - they know what they’re doing,” Quinto stated. “Obviously, I would obviously love to see J.J. directing every Star Trek movie that I’m ever affiliated with. But if it’s not the case, I’m sure that whoever does will be someone that he’s chosen and that he believes in for whatever reason. I mean, they know what’s up.”
