Lost Boy Corey Haim Dies at Age 38

UPDATE: According to the coroner, Corey Haim died as result of natural causes.

, the actor best known for his work in a series of ‘80s films, died today in California. He was 38 years old.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the Lost Boys star collapsed in his mother’s Burbank-area apartment early Wednesday morning. He was transported to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Although an autopsy has not yet been conducted by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, Haim’s death is being investigated as an accidental overdose. No foul play is believed to be involved.

In addition to his role in the popular 1987 vampire movie, Haim worked in a number of teen films including Lucas, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream. Several of those projects co-starred his on-and-off best friend Corey Feldman.

Recently, the two Coreys worked together on a reality series - titled The Two Coreys - for A&E. During the program, which ended its run in 2008, viewers got a glimpse of the ongoing drug battle that had taken over Haim’s life.

Ironically, both Coreys were caught out in West Hollywood - together - by TMZ just a few weeks ago. During that February 18 interview, Haim said he had been “good for a while now” when asked about his addiction problems. He also claimed that he had a number of things coming up including his first directorial project.

In a message posted via her Twitter account, actress Alyssa Milano expressed her grief over her former boyfriend’s death: “Just woke up to the sad, sad news that Corey Haim passed away. RIP sweet boy.”
