Just days after being demoted to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, Columbus Blue Jackets rookie Nikita Filatov is getting his chance to debut in the NHL.

After an impressive pre-season, the Russian prospect was sent down to Syracuse as he overcame the effects of a leg injury.

Two AHL games and one Jared Boll neck injury later, the kid is being brought back, just in time for the club’s home opener this Friday.

In his pair of games with the Crunch, Filatov scored twice and joins a Jackets team at the bottom of the Central Division
