Tom Ford says women of all ages and sizes can wear his clothes.
The designer launched his first womenswear collection in six years in 2010 with a star-studded fashion show, and while many of the models were A-list names, Tom insists his creations suit every type of female.
"The collection was designed for different women of different ages, with different body types and different personalities. Whoever you are, what we do is help you develop your own individual style."

Lady Gaga Debuts First Sarah Burton for McQueen Piece
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Rumors,

While it may not have been much of a surprise that Alexander McQueen’s right-hand lady Sarah Burton would take over his label, what is surprising is how soon she’d start churning out pieces. Also not surprising: Lady Gaga is the first to wear them.
The McQueen lover debuted a custom-made catsuit designed by Burton for her private performance at Duane Park last night. The club was apparently so exclusive that the only photos that have surfaced are two-toned and grainy; quite a bummer, considering the outfit already looks gorgeous from what I can tell.
What do you think of Sarah Burton’s first womenswear look for Alexander McQueen?

Thom Browne Steps Into Womenswear

Thom Browne has created his first full womenswear collection.
The men’s designer has dabbled in female fashion before - selling a capsule range in Barneys New York in 2007 and 2008 - but has now branched out by making a new line.
“This time I have more time to focus on it. For September, it will be a bit bigger than before, with more styles within the categories, but very focused. In the next couple seasons it will become a fully developed collection.”
The collection will sell at Barneys New York, Colette and 10 Corso Como Seoul and The Thom Browne shop. For the range, Brown has been inspired by his menswear roots, which he has incorporated into the clothes.
“It’s very focused on jackets and trousers and outerwear. I think it’s what people expect from me, very men’s-inspired women’s clothing. Grey flannel, navy cashmere. Good, all-American men’s wear influence, but fitting in a cool feminine way. I want it to be very understandable. Personally, when I see it on the girls I think it looks so good. I like the idea of men’s tailoring on girls. It’s very strong and sexy in a non-overt way.”
Tom Ford Moves Forward With Womenswear Plans

Upon completing his foray into film, Tom Ford is now venturing into womenswear.
The designer has reportedly started recruiting accessories specialists and is putting together a design team for a return to the ladies clothing market, his first foray into the area under his own name. Tom confirmed his intentions to move back toward womenswear last year, saying in October, “Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start a women’s collection soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while.”
He warned, however, the project would take over a year to complete, adding, “It will take me 18 months when I start, because I have to hire the team, find the factories, put everything together and then get the stores ready so there’s a place for these clothes.”
Meanwhile, Tom - who has previously worked for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent - dressed Oscars hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin for last night’s ceremony, which included a costume changed for Alec from a single-breasted tuxedo with grosgrain peak lapels, white pique front shirts and black grosgrain cummerbunds and bow ties to a navy blue, single-breasted tuxedo with a grosgrain peak lapel.
Colin Firth - who starred in Tom’s directorial debut film A Single Man for which he was nominated for the Best Actor award - was also dressed by the designer at the Oscars.
Tom Ford on Verge of Designing Womenswear

Tom Ford says that he will release a womenswear collection when he finds the time and money.
The former Gucci and YSL designer is keen to have a female range, but admits he is waiting for the appropriate funding: “Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start a women’s collection soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while. You know it will take me 18 months when I start, because I have to hire the team, find the factories, put everything together and then get the stores ready so there’s a place for these clothes.”
The 48-year-old also revealed sales of his menswear collection are doing very well: “Things are getting better every day in most places. So I’m optimistic and this is something that I plan on doing for the next 30 years of my life, so if I have to wait another six months or a year (to launch women’s) it’s ok.”
