Greta Gerwig at the premiere of 'Her'

“I want to go a little bit more Sofia Vergara, if she were an awkward German girl... [My stylist Erin] helps guide me. Sometimes I’ll do that thing where I’m like, ‘Oh, I want to wear the weirdest dress on the rack!’ She’s like, ‘Greta... it’s just going to make you look weird.’ Sometimes I do it anyway, and she’s like, ‘Seriously, what did I just tell you!'"

Lindsay Lohan Accused of Ruining Borrowed Designer Dress

Lindsay Lohan at the amfAR GalaLindsay Lohan has been accused of destroying a $1,750 designer dress she was allowed to borrow.

The Liz & Dick star allegedly cut off the bottom end of the stunning nude-and-silver beaded fringe gown by Theia that she wore to the amfAR Gala in New York on February 6 - which was lent to her after her Scary Movie 5 co-star Charlie Sheen begged a top stylist to help her find a dress - because it ripped after the event.

A source revealed that when the 26-year-old actress returned the gown it was half its original length, and told USMagazine.com, "She said that the dress had ripped [at a club after the fundraiser] - she couldn't possibly wear it like that - so her stylist friend went to the club bouncer and requested some scissors to repair the torn part of the dress. But what bouncer has scissors? She turned it into a mullet! Only a fashiony person would do that! She's out of control and behaving really badly."

The dress was lent to Lindsay after her friend Charlie personally called celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch and asked him to dress Lindsay for the charity event and he told the fashion expert he would even split the bill 50/50 if necessary.

Emma Stone Won’t Take Credit For Her Sense of Style

Emma StoneEmma Stone won't take credit for her sense of style.

The Amazing Spider-Man actress - who is dating her co-star Andrew Garfield - claims her stylist Petra Flannery has complete control of her sartorial choices and thinks her style icon status isn't warranted.

Asked about her gorgeous red carpet gowns, Emma said, "My stylist is really into fashion. She's great with it!"

Petra's A-list client list includes Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana and Megan Fox, and she was ranked as the third most powerful stylist in the industry by The Hollywood Reporter in 2012.

Despite being known for her red carpet looks, the flame-haired beauty admitted her own sense of style is much more casual and low-key: "For me and my closet I have a lot of jeans and T-shirts and sweaters. I kind of operate in that area most days."

Karl Lagerfeld Blasts Lack of Gifted Stylists

Karl LagerfeldKarl Lagerfeld has blasted the lack of "gifted stylists" in the fashion industry.

The Chanel designer has collaborated with Carine Roitfeld for The Little Black Jacket tour, a travelling exhibition of images of Chanel's iconic creation worn by personalities from Sarah Jessica Parker to Yoko Ono and Charlotte Casiraghi, and he was thrilled to work with her because of her talent.

"It's very stimulating to work with Carine, because there aren't so many gifted stylists, and nothing is more exhausting than to work with an ungifted stylist. That makes a job very difficult," he told WWD.

The exhibition is based on a book of the same name and Karl admitted he and Carine didn't always agree on who should be included in the exhibition. When asked how he chose who made the cut, Karl said, "That's the story and secret between Carine and me. I cannot say that there were real rules. There are people she preferred and people I preferred, and then we mixed it all. It's a mix of different tastes and different choices. I love the photo of Uma Thurman [resembling Marlene Dietrich], but she is not like this in life. We made Anja Rubik Japanese. She doesn't look like this either and is playing a part. The idea is the portrait of the personality, or the personality playing a part."

Rachel Zoe Spent Sleepless Nights Over Karolina Kurkova’s Met Ball Dress

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models,

Karolina KurkovaRachel Zoe spent sleepless nights over the Met Ball dress she designed for Karolina Kurkova.

Model Karolina stunned critics at the prestigious event in New York last week in a custom-made sequinned gold gown from the Rachel Zoe Collection, but the designer admits she was very nervous beforehand.

"I spent a lot of nights dreaming about what I wanted it to look like. Long sleeves, a very low back and a high neck were all musts for the dress, but the much-talked about headpiece was a last-minute addition. It happened literally the day before. 'What can I add to really take it to the next level?' So we made the turban-slash-head-wrap to give it that deco-glamour that [Elsa] Schiaparelli was so known for," said Rachel, who is a stylist to the stars.

Karolina, 28, walked the red carpet in the floor-length bodycon number at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala with 40-year-old Rachel, who wore a white dress from Commes des Garcons.

Nicola Formichetti Focusing on His Dreams

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers,

Nicola FormichettiNicola Formichetti is focusing on his own "dream" after years of styling Lady Gaga.

The 34-year-old designer - who is renowned for making the eccentric outfits worn by the "Judas" hitmaker in addition to being the creative director of Mugler - admits he has had to "embrace" a new side of himself now he is in the process of launching his own brand.

"This year I wanted to focus on my own dream. Being a stylist, you always hide behind a brand, but because of Gaga and Mugler, I needed to come out onto the scene. I had to embrace it," he explained.

Discussing the outfits, the Japanese/Italian creative said he wanted to make new technology because materials have largely been the same for such a long time: "Why do you have a zipper when you can have a jacket that's molded to your body? It'll be very digitally oriented and high-tech. We've been working with the same fabrics, the same techniques for hundreds of years. That's all great, but we need something new."

The first items are due out in 2013.
