TLC Didn’t Like Rihanna’s CFDA Awards Dress

Both designers and fashion bloggers alike heralded Rihanna's dress at last week's CFDA Awards - at which she won the Fashion Icon of the Year award - but one pair of fellow female musicians are voicing their dislike of the "Diamonds" singer's style.
Referring to Rihanna, T-Boz of TLC said, "Every time I see you you don't have to be naked... It's hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say, 'Oh TLC must be jealous,' but I call a spade a spade."

Rihanna to Start Her Own Fashion Line

Vogue darling Rihanna is set to launch her own fashion label soon.
While the singer has kept a tight lip about details concerning her upcoming line, she has spoken about the large part style played in the success of her music career: "It's not all down to my voice... There's people with way more talent than I when it comes to singing; bigger voices. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood."
Having previously worked on collections for both Emporio Armani Underwear/Armani Jeans and River Island - not to mention how fashion designers Alexander Wang, Tom Ford, and Peter Dundas have praised her fashion choices - the 26-year-old has already made some headway into the industry.
There's no word yet as to when her label is due for unveiling.

+ The Kardashian trio unveiled their latest clothing collection, which they launched in collaboration with British retailer Lipsy. Unsurprisingly, Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe model off their floral, curve-hugging dresses in the adverts for the line (perhaps it's the only way they'd be able to sell it?). Major kudos that they're not of the typical sequined and glittery New Year's Eve dress fare, but at the same time, I can't imagine women flocking to the stores (or in Americans' cases, online store) for a summery frock when they're looking for something festive.
+ Britney Spears surprised fans with a Twitter photo showcasing her new hair color: platinum blonde. Love it or leave it?
+ Tyra Banks seems to have joined Jennifer Lawrence in the war against negative body image words, claiming that she refuses to utter "plus-size," instead opting for "fiercely real." Not sure how quickly the latter will catch on, but it's a start!

Rihanna Asked to Leave Mosque During Photoshoot

Rihanna was asked to leave a mosque after an "improper" photoshoot.
The "Stay" hitmaker was kicked out of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi after posing for photographs, which "did not comply with the terms and conditions" of the place of worship, and without obtaining permission. A statement from the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque, published today in local Abu Dhabi newspapers said, "In the event of behavior that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations - such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating - the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam. Here, the Center refers to a recent incident, involving a singer who came for a private visit to the mosque, at a gate that is not reserved for visitors, without prior coordination with the Center's management and without identifying herself."
The 25-year-old singer posted a number of snapshots on her Instagram account, which saw her dressed head-to-toe in black with bright red lips and matching nails, but fans have since hit out at the star for her "disrespectful" actions.

Rihanna Hangs Out in Coco Chanel’s Apartment

Rihanna has been hanging out in Coco Chanel's apartment. The singer visited the late legendary fashion icon's Parisian home, fuelling speculation the Bajan beauty has landed a secret ad campaign deal with the high end brand.
The 25-year-old star first made a trip to one of Chanel's flagship stores, and was allowed to pick any accessory she wanted. She showed off a snapshot her favorite piece, a yellow Lego box clutch, writing on Twitter, "Thank you to my dear friends at Chanel Paris!!!"

Rihanna Sues Topshop

Rihanna is suing Topshop for $5 million. The "Diamonds" hitmaker is taking legal action against the UK high street fashion chain - which is owned by billionaire Philip Green - following eight months of unsuccessful negotiations over T-shirts bearing her image which are being sold without her consent.
"Rihanna's management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image and were told, 'We do what we want.' They buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, UK law does not protect the artist. What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, 'Go to hell. We don't care; we are going to continue selling you.' They offered her $5,000 and said they don't care," a source told The New York Post.
The 25-year-old singer has hired international law firm Reed Smith to file the suit in London, as the garments are only being sold in the UK, where the image rights are owned by the photographer who took the picture.

Rihanna is, in fact, wearing one pair of pants designed with two tops. To celebrate her recent venture into the world of fashion design, the popstar threw a party for the launch of her collection for River Island and showed up wearing this interesting look. Though the white crop top with jeans fittingly ring in springtime fashion, her plain black sandals are a little too casual for the 24 year-old fashionista we have come to know and love. Is Rihanna's look refreshing or in need of restyling?

+ New Harvey Nichols ads for their "Love Thyself" campaign - which features females models appearing to kiss themselves - raised enough eyebrows to warrant 17 complaints to the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Thankfully, they were quickly dismissed.
+ After recently verbally attacking Duchess Catherine over her lack of recycling clothes, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has now targeted First Lady Michelle Obama, calling her style "dreadful."
+ One lucky Rihanna fan was not only awarded the chance to be one of the first to see the singer's River Island collection but was also treated to a surprise appearance from the singer herself - at her changing room door!
